Peace, Love and Lies

What would you do if you were a CNN reporter and had to cover the story of a hijacked plane, which carried a member of your family? Would you be able to hide your emotions, knowing that their life is in danger? It is the early nineties, after the questionable Oslo Agreement. An Israeli Air Force plane, carrying the Israeli mission to the peace talks in Cairo, has been hijacked. For CNN’s Israeli office manager, Shira Tailor, it’s not only a dramatic news event, but a personal test as well. With her stepfather Danny, the cabinet secretary and mission head, on board, she has to deal with conflicting emotions and loyalties when he may become the next victim. During three nerve-wrecking days, she recalls some scenes from their family history and tries to figure out who Danny really is—a peace visionary and fighter, or a smooth and heartless politician? Peace, Love and Lies is a story of big and small events interwoven and played out between journalists, military commanders, diplomats, and government officials. It is a story of intrigue and integrity, of cynical exploitation and of small favors of love and compassion. * Definitely a must-read for those who are interested in experiencing a whole lot of emotions, events, and truths in a single title!* **From the Author The story behind "Peace Love and Lies". During my 25 years in the government service, I had the privilege of participating in number of peace talks. These were exiting times of hope and enthusiasm, which did not last too long. These unusual times however took me, together with other Israeli senior officers, politicians and other publics ervants, to some ground breaking meetings in Moscow, Hague, Tokyo and most ofall to Cairo. Together with Palestinian and American colleges, and many other, we believed that we will create a new reality in the Middle East. We were wrong. It never really happened. Not Yet. These times however thought me that the crucial factor behind any political negotiation is the personal element. The players loves and hates, dreams and personal ambitions are the engine and the fuel of success or failure. These and the media. The television broadcast, that can create new reality, just by the interpretation of the events. In can magically ignite the imagination of the people, their views, hopesand support. The story of "Peace Love and Lies" was perceived when it was first published as a "Key book", telling the story of some real actors in the Israeli Palestinian peace process. The truth is that behind every hero in the book, there are some real people that I knew and worked with. None of them was singularly fully copied in "Peace Love and Lies".  A friend who matched more than other the description of Danny Taylor, the Cabinet secretary, once laughed together with me at the  habitus comparison.
