The omniscient narration follows minor characters, but leaves out large portions of Ravenna's plight, and a rushed final subplot could have been left for the sequel. Frank's world is intriguing, however, and the expectation that many of the characters will develop relationships in future installments makes the backstory info dumping more forgivable. (Apr.)
