"Berebury golf course, in the fictional county of Calleshire, is an unlikely setting for a murder. Set in a pleasant landscape and boasting a splendid view of the market town of Berebury, the golf course is more suited to fun and frolics than murder and mayhem. So when flirtatious golfing beginner Helen Ewell goes in search of her wayward golf ball in the dreaded 'Hells Bells' bunker she is not prepared for the horrible surprise that lies buried beneath the soft sand." The discovery of a body in the deepest bunker on the course draws Detective Inspector Sloan and Detective Constable Crosby into an intriguing new case that is more challenging than scoring a hole in one. The team soon discover that the body belonged to a healthy young man who had suffered a heavy blow to the head with a sharp instrument a few days prior to his uncovering. What prove more elusive, however, are the identities of both the murderer and the victim, and the motive for the killing. Life is made more difficult when the detectives become caught up in an issue that has divided the members of the Committee of the Golf Club. Yet it is here that the detectives, with the help of their superior officer, Superintendent Leeyes, begin to find some answers. Views: 58
To the casual holidaymaker, Crowthorpe seemed a pretty Lakeland village, its stone circle just a prehistoric monument like any other. No outward sign proclaimed it the site of ancient rivalry, whose legacy of hatred lingered into the present day. Matthew and Philip Selby, however, though they thought themselves ordinary holidaymakers, proved not to be so. Two factors singled them out from the beginning: the fact that they were twins, and their lifelong phobia about crows. The village also reached out for Jason Quinn, a sophisticated TV journalist who gave no credence to the supernatural and was known for his scepticism. He too was drawn relentlessly into the smouldering whirlpool of suspicion and fear as the buried emotions of thousands of years finally erupted. Yet the terrifying outcome might, despite everything, have been averted, had not the gypsy girl at the fair made her fatal Macbeth Prophecy... Views: 58

From the AuthorThe book you hold has had many adventures on the road to publication. It started in hospital while recovering from surgery. I wrote the first draft, in long hand, as a novelette. Back home, I put my History degree to work and dig some serious research while transcribing the manuscript to a Commodore Plus4.Orphaned by obsolete technology, the original manuscript clung to life as a printout from a dying dot-matrix printer. When it finally made it into a workable file, it had to wait while I had a couple of kids and took care of my sister and father. Meanwhile I collected far more information on Texas, guns, riding, and the price of beans and ammunition than you would ever want to see in a novel. The trail has been rocky and full of obstacles but, I hope you will agree, worth the journey. Views: 58
