Disillusionment can be a great motivator, and when the only way out is up Jet learns that friends can be found in the most unlikely of places: that a courier service is much more than delivering parcels and that diamonds are everyone's best friends. This is the first book in the Jet Black series.Disillusionment can be a great motivator, and when the only way out is up Jet learns that friends can be found in the most unlikely of places: that a courier service is much more than delivering parcels and that diamonds are everyone's best friends. In the Company Wars Chronicles I have a character called Alan P. Ellis. Alan is portrayed as an arrogant and self-important writer, who is the author of a series of books about Jet Black. The idea was to depict Jet Black as a kind of Flash Gordon or Buck Rogers; the kind of over the top character that gets into fanciful and implausible situations. But as anyone who writes will know our characters sometimes refuse to act the way we intended them to, and it occurred to me long after I had introduced Alan that by making Jet into a far-fetched character gave me the opportunity to use a few what if situations I had at the back of my mind without taking the stories too seriously. Jet may have started as a joke, but it seems Alan has had the last laugh. Views: 824
From Robert E. Howard’s fertile imagination sprang some of fiction’s greatest heroes, including Conan the Cimmerian, King Kull, and Solomon Kane. But of all Howard’s characters, none embodied his creator’s brooding temperament more than Bran Mak Morn, the last king of a doomed race.
In ages past, the Picts ruled all of Europe. But the descendants of those proud conquerors have sunk into barbarism . . . all save one, Bran Mak Morn, whose bloodline remains unbroken. Threatened by the Celts and the Romans, the Pictish tribes rally under his banner to fight for their very survival, while Bran fights to restore the glory of his race.
Lavishly illustrated by award-winning artist Gary Gianni, this collection gathers together all of Howard’s published stories and poems featuring Bran Mak Morn–including the eerie masterpiece “Worms of the Earth” and “Kings of the Night,” in which sorcery summons Kull the conqueror from out of the depths of time to stand with Bran against the Roman invaders.
Also included are previously unpublished stories and fragments, reproductions of manuscripts bearing Howard’s handwritten revisions, and much, much more.
Special Bonus: a newly discovered adventure by Howard, presented here for the very first time. Views: 824

Meet Henry Adams he loves going to haunted attractions, but was getting bored and not scared anymore, so he decided he was going to make his own Haunted attraction that would be to die for literally. Henry wanted to be the envy of all Halloween attractions and he is going to do it in a deadly way. Henry knew if he was going to pull this off it had to be done in a big way. Halloween was just a couple months away, and he had to think of something special to do that would alleviate his loneliness in the dilapidated Mansion out in the country where he was living all alone. Then out of the blue he said, "I know just the perfect thing to do this Halloween, and that would be to turn my mansion into a real life Haunted Mansion, but this has to be the real thing not just a bunch of props. That night as Henry was daydreaming about what to do on his couch he wasn't about to doze off because if he did he probably would forget. Henry immediately got off the couch, and turned on the light, and got a piece of paper to write down his thoughts, and act on them in the morning. After about an hour, and nonstop writing Henry finally passed out on the couch with a beer in one hand, and the paper he was writing down his thoughts on was lying on his chest. The beer Henry had in his hand dropped to the floor spilling everywhere, but Henry was fast asleep and didn't hear a thing.Morning finally arrived and Henry awoke to the sunlight beaming through the living room window. Henry wiped his eyes and grabbed his paper full of ideas then stepped down off the couch into a pool of beer getting his socks soaking wet. Henry said, "I must have really been out of it last night." Then he went over to the kitchen to get a towel and clean up the spilled beer. He made himself some breakfast and sat at the kitchen table going over his ideas. When he was through eating his breakfast he got on his clothes, and took his to do list with him then got in his car eager to get the things he needed to turn his Mansion into a real life Haunted Mansion.Henry went into town to the Halloween store for a fog machine to give his yard the kind of look that you would see in scary movies. He also got things from the Halloween store such as spooky music, strobe lights, black lights and cob webs. Henry was excited to see his fantasy unfolding right in front of him. Views: 824

"The other big news this month is that I'm releasing an extra Zom-B book in March!!! Called Zom-B Circus, it's not a full-length book -- it will be about half the size of a normal Zom-B book -- and it doesn't focus on B Smith (though she has a small but crucial part to play in it). Instead it focuses on a teacher from B's school who gets caught up in the madness when the zombies attack, and undergoes a most surprising and disturbing transformation. The book will be a stand-alone, though it also links in with B's story in certain ways, featuring appearances by some of the characters we have already met (or will meet soon) in the main series. It also gives us a chance to have another look at Mr Dowling and his merry crew in wild, kill-crazy action, to catch up on what they've been up to while they've been keeping low in the series..."

Selected poems by J. Berchman Bernard Stewart“Mr. Stewart’s poems reveal a new luminary incarnation of the ancient but ever-present Celtic bardic tradition. With an astonishing variety of voices and styles, his mastery of words and images provides an exhilarating and scintillating experience of a rare and unique poetic power, not to be missed.”Dr. Joseph GrossHerein are selected poems by J. Berchman Bernard Stewart. These poems were created over ten years in relative isolation; hence, this is the first public exhibition of Mr. Stewart's poetry. Most of the works took 1,000-6,000 hours, yet a few fell like ink drops from the pen and appear here almost unaltered from their original drafts. They range from "closed form", metered, to looser internal rhyme. They are in all styles, from imagist to jazz. Some are romantic, some solemn, some a bit silly, and one a touch scary. These works are concise and speak clearly.Above all else, the goal of this poet is to move the reader with "a thing of beauty," which "is joy forever."
