Zeke and Ned is the story of Ezekiel Proctor and Ned Christie, the last Cherokee warriors -- two proud, passionate men whose remarkable quest to carve a future out of Indian Territory east of the Arkansas River after the Civil War is not only history but legend. Played out against an American West governed by a brutal brand of frontier justice, this intensely moving saga brims with a rich cast of indomitable and utterly unforgettable characters such as Becca, Zeke's gallant Cherokee wife, and Jewel Sixkiller Proctor, whose love for Ned makes her a tragic heroine.
At once exuberant and poignant, bittersweet and brilliant, Zeke and Ned takes us deep into the hearts of two extraordinary men who were willing to go the distance for the bold vision they shared -- and for the women they loved. Views: 332

A place of history, secrets...and witchcraft.
Devin Lyle has recently returned to the Salem area, but her timing couldn't be worse. Soon after she moved into the eighteenth-century cabin she inherited from her great-aunt Mina--her "crazy" great-aunt, who spoke to the dead--a woman was murdered nearby.
Craig Rockwell--known as Rocky--is a new member of the Krewe of Hunters, the FBI's team of paranormal investigators. He never got over finding a friend dead in the woods. Now another body's been found in those same woods, not far from the home of Devin Lyle. And Devin's been led to a third body--by...a ghost?
Her discovery draws them both deeper into the case and Salem's rich and disturbing history. Even as the danger mounts, Devin and Rocky begin to fall for each other, something the ghosts of Mina and past witches seem to approve of. To know Puss, Junior once is to love him forever! That\'s the way everyone feels about this adventurous cat who is the son of a very famous father, Puss in Boots. In the Puss in Boots, Jr series of ten books written by David Cory and originally published in 1917-1922, Puss, Junior discovers that he is the son of the illustriious Puss in Boots and he begins a journey across New Mother Goose Land to find his famous father. Along the way, Puss Junior meets characters from children\'s fiction and nursery rhymes, helps the weak and downtrodden, and learns something about life from everyone he meets. In Books 1 and 2, Puss searches for and finds his father. Books 3 through 10 tell of more adventures afterward and some adventures that were left out of the first two books. In Book 1, Puss discovers his identity and meets Yankee Doodle Dandy, the Queen of Hearts, Mother Goose, Old King Cole, and many other characters. He joins a circus, climbs Jack\'s beanstalk, and attends a wedding. The original illustrations by Elizabeth Jones Babcock are included in the stories. Nine of these have been enlarged and printed in the back of the book as coloring pages for crayon or colored pencil. Adults using colored pencils can create vintage-looking pictures. The Puss in Boots, Jr books are lovely reminders that simple words can awaken the imaginations of children and adults alike, just as they did one hundred years ago. The original stories have been very slightly edited to change archaic words and references. Reading level is second grade but much younger children will enjoy hearing the stories read to them. Sir Henry Rider Haggard KBE (1856-1925) was a Victorian writer of adventure novels set in exotic locations. After failing his army entrance exam he was sent to a private 'crammer' in London to prepare for the entrance exam for the British Foreign Office, for which he never sat. Haggard's father sent him to Africa in an unpaid position as assistant to the secretary to Lieutenant-Governor of Natal Sir Henry Bulwer. Heavily influenced by the larger-than-life adventurers he met in Colonial Africa, the great mineral wealth discovered in Africa, and the ruins of ancient lost civilizations in Africa such as Great Zimbabwe, Haggard created his Allan Quatermain adventures. Haggard also wrote about agricultural and social issues reform, in part inspired by his experiences in Africa, but also based on what he saw in Europe. Haggard is most famous as the author of the best-selling novel King Solomon's Mines (1885). Amongst his other works are She (1887), Allan Quatermain (1888), Eric Brighteyes (1891) and Ayesha (1895).
