Carson O’Shaughnessy has one task: track down his boss’s flighty nephew, Stassy, and return the kid to Chicago. Then Carson can go back to waiting tables and being productively bitter about his life. He didn’t count on finding a dead body in Stassy’s bed, and he certainly didn’t count on the guy in the flip-flops and cutoffs at the local café helping him get to the bottom of the crime. But Dale Arden is no ordinary surfing burnout—he’s actually a pretty sharp guy with a seductive voice and a bossy streak wider than the Florida panhandle. When he decides to boss Carson right into his bed, Carson realizes Stassy's not the only one who's been lost. Carson likes to think he’s got his life all figured out, that sex with guys is your basic broom-closet transaction; he may just have to revise his priorities, because nobody plans on taking a left at St. Truth-be-Well and finding love at the Bates Parrot Hotel. All of Tanya Huff’s short stories featuring homicide cop turned P.I.
Vicki Nelson, her partner Mike Celluci, and vampire Henry Fitzroy."This Town Ain't Big Enough" is a sequel to Blood Pact, where Vicki
has to deal with another vampire encroaching in her territory.
Suspenseful and intense, this was probably my favorite short story.
"What Manner of Man" takes place in Henry's past, where he tries to
track down a spy. This was another fun one with plenty of intrigue, in
the Regency era setting.
"The Cards Also Say" is another that follows Blood Pact. This time, Vicki hears an ominous message from a psychic.
"The Vengeful Spirit of Lake Nepeakea" follows Vicki and Mike to a
remote lake that the locals say harbors a monster. This story had plenty
of humor surrounding the mystery.
"Someone to Share the Night" stars Henry who begins to feel a little lonely, so he takes out a personal ad.
"Another Fine Nest" involves Vicki and Mike tracking down
blood-sucking underground bugs. This was very suspenseful, with a high
"ick factor."
"Scleratus" is a darker story, where Henry remembers his bloody past.
"Critical Analysis" involves Vicki and Henry trying to solve an
impossible murder. These are always my favorite kind of murder
mysteries.
"So This Is Christmas" throws Vicki into the role of Scrooge for this entertaining holiday tale.

The triangular spaceship hovered motionless in the sky above Reese Holloway’s house, as inscrutable as a black hole. It had seemed like a good idea when they were inside: to tell the truth about what happened to them at Area 51. It didn’t seem like such a good idea now. Reese and David are not normal teens—not since they were adapted with alien DNA by the Imria, an extraterrestrial race that has been secretly visiting Earth for decades. Now everyone is trying to get to them: the government, the Imria, and a mysterious corporation that would do anything for the upper hand against the aliens. Beyond the web of conspiracies, Reese can’t reconcile her love for David with her feelings for her ex-girlfriend Amber, an Imrian. But her choice between two worlds will play a critical role in determining the future of humanity, the Imria’s place in it, and the inheritance she and David will bring to the universe. In this gripping sequel to Adaptation , Malinda Lo brings a thoughtful exploration of adolescence, sexuality, and “the other” to a science fiction thriller that is impossible to put down. Views: 30
