  Chapter 1

  Aftermath

  A long time ago, a demon lord named Synx appeared on planet Earth. He hated humanity and wanted to see everyone disappear. Along with him was his family. He had six wives, three daughters and one son. His family also hated humanity. However, his son did not have any hard feelings against humanity, because he had no reason to hate them. The humans haven’t done anything wrong according to his son. Synx and his family began to build a fortress at an abandoned location. The location was said to be cursed by the devil himself, so no human has ever stepped foot in this area. As Synx and his family began to build their fortress, they began to gather their army and bring them to the fortress. Synx is planning to eliminate the human race from this planet and take over it.

  It took decades for the fortress to be completed, but it came out perfect. They designed the fortress to keep Synx and his family safe from any invaders. It is the typical size of a normal fortress, but they are not completely finished. They will need to take up more territory in order to build a better army and a place with even more protection. With the fortress completed and the army ready for battle, Synx will lead his army to their first battle. They will be attacking a small village not too far from the fortress. They built the fortress on top of a mountain, they will be heading down the mountain and into the small village.

  In this small village is a very important family and person. This person will later on make Synx and his family wish they never came here. This small village is home to the best military doctors the military has ever seen before. This family is the Pulaski family. Robert and Penelope Pulaski are well known for saving many soldier’s lives as well as civilian lives. They have saved more lives than any doctors in the world. They have received many awards and medals throughout their careers. But their most prized reward is their daughter, Sarah.

  Sarah is a beautiful 18-year-old young lady with high academic scores. Currently she is finishing up the last year of high school. She is the smartest person in her class and she is very popular as well. A lot of the men find her very attractive, but she can never seem to find the right person to be with. She has had boyfriends before, but they didn’t last very long. They all cheated on her with some slut from college or another high school. However, she still has hope to find the perfect person that will be completely loyal to her.

  Sarah is walking to her house from school with her best friend, Adam. Adam and Sarah have been best friend since they were both nine years old. Their friendship started when Sarah and her family moved in next door to Adam and his family. Sarah and Adam met each other at school. They had a lot of classes together and sat next to each other in almost all of their classes. At first, Sarah didn’t really know what to make of Adam, but Sarah ended up liking Adam after she got to know him better. They both walked to school and walked back home with each other. At first, they didn’t really speak to each other. They are both pretty quiet people. They started talking to each other, because they didn’t want it to be awkward every time they walked to school or back home.

  As Sarah and Adam both walk towards their houses, they notice the front door to Sarah’s house was broken. Sarah and Adam both rush inside of Sarah’s house. It seems as if nobody is home, but they want to make sure. Sarah says as she enters through the front door, “Hello, is anybody in here?” Nobody responds. It isn’t normal for a house to be broken into in this village. This village has a very low crime rate. It is also not normal for her parents to not be home without them telling her. Adam and Sarah split up inside of the house. It appears nothing has been stolen or damaged. Sarah goes up the stairs to check inside of the bedrooms and bathrooms. Adam will be checking the living room, the kitchen and basement. They do not find anybody or any evidence of anyone breaking into the house, besides a broken front door.

  Sarah and Adam regroup in the living room. As they regroup in the living room, the back door leading into the backyard slams open. The door slams open from a high gust of wind. Sarah and Adam hurry into the backyard. They are stunned and horrified by what they see. They see both of Sarah’s parents hanging from a tree by a rope. It was not suicide, but homicide. They know it is not suicide, because the bodies have been tortured and have daemonic stars carved on their bellies. Sarah’s parents were attacked by Synx and one of his wives. The rest are out there attacking other families and doing the same thing to them. Synx and his wife broke into Sarah’s house and attacked her parents. After her parents were beaten down to the point where they could no longer move, they were dragged into the backyard where they would be murdered and hanged. Synx and his wife skinned her parents while they were still alive and engraved a daemonic star on their bellies. Even then they were not completely dead, but they were very close to dying. They died once they were hung by the tree in their backyard. They died a very painful death, because Synx and his wife did not tie the ropes tight enough for them to break their necks. Instead, they made sure her parents suffocated and choked to death. After her parents died, Synx and his wife made their way over to another household.

  Sarah’s body collapses from the sight of her dead parents and breaks down into tears. Adam tries to call the police, but nobody picks up the phone after many attempts of trying to get a hold of them. Adam eventually gives up trying to call the police and walks over to Sarah and comforts her. Adam holds Sarah in her arms as she breaks down crying. It isn’t long before Adam starts crying as well. Moments later, they hear a lot of crying and mass distraction. It isn’t long before sirens go off to let everyone know they are under attack. Sarah and Adam rush inside of her house and lock themselves inside of the basements until somebody comes rescuing them.

  Adam and Sarah spend all day inside of the basement until they are rescued. Adam and Sarah both are clueless about what is happening on the outside. They are under attack by a very powerful army that cannot be stopped very easily. Adam and Sarah cannot believe her parents are gone and died the way they did. Sarah asks Adam while crying, “Why did this have to happen? Why did this have to happen to me? Where am I going to live now? My parents were the only family I had left, now they are all gone.” Adam hugs Sarah and replies, “Everything is going to be all right. I am pretty sure my family is dead as well, judging by what is happening outside. However, we have each other and know that we are not alone in this situation. We are going to survive this tragedy.” Just as Adam is done talking, they hear a loud bang inside of the house. Adam and Sarah do not say a word or move a muscle. They hear footsteps coming from inside of the house and towards the basement door. Somebody yells, “Sarah, are you in here?!” Sarah recognizes this person’s voice. It is a soldier of the World Army. Sarah replies out of relief, “Yes, me and my best friend are both down here!” Sarah and Adam rush over to the basement door and unlock it. The soldier orders them, “I have no time to explain, but please come with me and hurry up. We do not have much time left.” Adam and Sarah both run with the soldier to safety on an aircraft.

  Fortunately, they all make it onto the aircraft and head over to the nearest military base. As they are heading over to the military base, Sarah and Adam cannot help but look as their village gets destroyed by an army of demons. This battle was only the beginning of the war that is going on today. Synx’s army and fortress has only grown stronger. He has many military bases set up all over the world. He has taken over most of the world. Humanity seems like it is at the verge of extinction, but they do not lose any sign of hope.

  After Adam and Sarah arrive at the military base, they are placed into a building filled with refugees. There are a lot of wounded, thus making a lot of dead. The military cannot keep up with the number of wounded people, so a lot of people die before they are treated. Fortunately for Adam and Sarah, they do not get d
isturbed from the sight of dead bodies, because they are used to it. Adam also comes from a military family. Both of his parents fought on the front lines in the World Army. Unfortunately, Adam gets the news of his parents dying in combat during the battle of where they lived. Both Adam and Sarah cry as they hold each other in their arms. After they are done crying, they head over to the cafeteria to get some food. As they are walking over to the cafeteria, they look at all of the people and their families trapped inside of here. It is a very toxic and negative environment, because nobody is happy. Everyone is horrified and traumatized by what they had to see in this battle.

  After Adam and Sarah get their food, they head into the dining room where they will eat. As they are eating, Sarah wishes to join the World Army. Sarah says to Adam, “I am no longer going to be a civilian, I am going to fight for humanity.” Adam understands why Sarah wants to do this. In fact, he plans on doing it himself. Adam replies, “After we are done eating, let’s both sign up for the Army.” Sarah and Adam are no longer sad, but are filled with rage. After they are done eating and get rid of their plates, they head over to the recruiting center and sign up to join the military.

  As they arrive to the recruiting center, everyone is excited to see both Adam and Sarah here. They are both welcomed and respected here. Many soldiers salute them as they walk down the hallway and enter the sign up area. As they are signing contracts and paperwork to join the Army, they are stopped by the general himself. He grabs both of their sign-up sheets and shreds them. As the General is shredding up their papers, he says to both of them, “There is no need for any one of you to sign up, welcome to the World Army.” Sarah salutes to the General and he salutes back. Adam salutes to the General and he salutes back. The General says to them, “Come with me, we have a lot of training to do.” The General escorts Adam and Sarah over to the combat training area.

  Adam and Sarah arrive at the combat training area. The General leaves Adam and Sarah with the man in charge of the combat training. The man in charge of their combat training is Lucas. Lucas has been in charge of combat training for over two decades. He is a legend when it comes to combat. Very few people can take him down.

  For Adam and Sarah’s first combat training, they will be fighting each other with kendo sticks. Kendo stick training is very important, because they use swords for close combat and guns to take down enemies at long-range. They will learn how to properly fire a gun and use a gun in combat tomorrow. For now, Adam and Sarah will be fighting each other until they are both exhausted. Adam and Sarah put on their safety equipment, grab their kendo sticks and head into the ring where they will be observed by Lucas.

  Adam and Sarah enter the ring and get ready for battle. They do not attack each other until Lucas gives them the command. Adam and Sarah do not have any skills in combat whatsoever, but they both end up doing a pretty good job. Lucas gives them the command to attack each other. Sarah charges after Adam with high velocity. Adam is able to block Sarah’s attacks, but not for very long. Sarah strikes Adam in the head with the kendo stick. Adam is okay, but it does hurt him. He removes his helmet and has a large red mark over by his eye. Lucas is amazed by Sarah’s power. She is a very tough lady. Lucas takes a look at Adam’s face and says, “You are going to be okay, your skin is just a little irritated. Now put on your helmet and get ready for combat.” Lucas walks away and continues to observed their fights.

  Surprisingly, Adam is able to defend himself against Sarah. This time, Adam is the victor in this battle. Sarah charges after Adam with high velocity, again. Like the last time, Adam is able to block her attacks. However, Adam sweeps her legs after she tries going for another headshot. Sarah falls to the ground and Adam strikes her in the chest. Lucas applause both of their efforts. Lucas says to Adam and Sarah, “You two are quite the pair. I see a bright future for both of you. Keep up the good work.” Sarah and Adam continue to fight each other with the kendo sticks with Lucas watching their every move. After they are both exhausted and Lucas feels like they are done for today, Lucas brings them to the armory where they will get their armor and swords.

  Lucas, Adam and Sarah arrive at the armory. The armory is a very busy place, because people are constantly getting upgraded armor and weaponry. Lucas explains to Adam and Sarah, “The style of armor and whatever sword you want to use in combat is all up to you, but make sure you choose wisely. You do not want to pick an armor that makes you feel uncomfortable in or a sword you have a hard time using. Always choose wisely.” Adam and Sarah both reply, “Yes, sir.” Lucas says to Adam and Sarah, “I’m going to leave you two in the armory, it is best you pick out your own gear by yourself. See you tomorrow for the next training.” Lucas leaves Adam and Sarah to pick out their swords and armor. Tomorrow, they will return to the armory and pick out a gun. The kind of gun they will be using in combat will be up to Lucas. However, they will be able to pick out the gun themselves. For example, if Lucas feels like you are a very skilled sniper, he will have you pick out a gun in the sniper class. However, you will be able to pick out what kind of sniper you would like to use. Fortunately, Adam and Sarah will be able to try on their combat gear and test out their weapons before selecting them as their weapon.

  Adam and Sarah stay together as they walk through the armory and take out what they need. They will help each other pick out the right armor and swords. They do not just walk into the first store they come across, they walk around until they find something that catches their eyes. Adam is the first one to see something interesting to him. So, Adam and Sarah walk into the store. The shop specializes in making armor only. Adam finds a light weight armor in the windowsill. He walks up to the vendor and asks, “Can I please see the black light weight armor with the full helmet?” The vendor replies, “Sure, I’ll have my assistant help you out.” The vendor yells to his assistant, “Mia, we have a handsome young man who needs your assistance, please come out here!” Mia walks over to the front of the store from the backroom. Adam finds Mia very attractive. He is having a hard time not looking as she walks up to the front. The vendor says to Mia, “This young man wants the black light weight armor with the full helmet in the windowsill.” Mia looks at the windowsill to see the armor she needs to get for Adam. Mia says to Adam, “Okay, come with me. I will get it for you.” Adam and Mia walk into the back room where she will measure his body and get the armor made for him in his size.

  Sarah looks around in the shop as Adam is getting fitted. She finds a lot of nice armor, but she doesn’t feel suitable for anything in the shop. To be honest, she is clueless about what she wants. She doesn’t know what kind of armor or sword she wants to wield in combat. However, she knows she will figure it out as they walk through the armory. After Adam is done with his measurements, he walks back to the front of the store and regroups with Sarah. Before Adam and Sarah can leave the store, Mia gives Adam her phone number. Mia smiles at Adam and says, “I will call you to let you know your armor is ready, but I want you to call me to take me on a date.” Adam replies, “Will do, I will see you very soon.” Adam and Sarah both leave the armor shop.

  Sarah is happy for Adam. He has never been on a date before. Mia seems like a very nice girl and perfect for Adam. He is happy to finally get a girl’s number and take her out on a date. Of course, he is a little nervous to take her on a date, but it’s going to happen whenever you meet somebody new or start a new relationship. All that aside, Adam only needs to find a sword and he will be done. However, he will continue to shop around with Sarah even after he is done shopping. Adam and Sarah always enjoy each other’s company. In fact, they haven’t really been in any fights with each other or any arguments. They get along with each other really well.

  Sarah and Adam continue to walk through the armory. This time, Sarah finds a sword that catches her attention. It is a titanium two-handed sword. They walk into the shop so Sarah can try it out. Sarah walks up to vendor and says, “I would like to try out the titanium two-handed sword you have in the windowsill.” The vend
or replies, “Sure.” The vendor walks into the back room to grab the sword. The vendor comes back with the sword they feel like is the proper size for Sarah. Sarah picks up the sword and can’t believe how light it is. The vendor explains to Sarah, “The sword is made from a lightweight titanium and is very powerful. You may test this out in the room to the left. Your friend must stay out here, unless if he wants to test out a weapon himself.” Adam stays inside of the shop as Sarah tests out the weapon. She uses the sword on some test dummies. She fell in love with the sword after one swing and striking the dummy. She tests it out on multiple dummies to test out the durability. After she is done, she brings the sword out back to the vendor. Sarah says to the vendor, “I would like to have the sword as my weapon, but can you make it red and black for me?” The vendor replies, “Yes we can, pick it up tomorrow and it will be all set.” Sarah and Adam leave the shop and search for the remaining gear.

  It isn’t long before both Adam and Sarah find their final gear. Adam finds his sword and tests it out as well. Adam’s sword is a two-handed sword, but his sword can split into dual wielding swords. He orders it in the colors of blue and green. Sarah finds a light weight armor similar to Adams, but her armor is a lot thinner and tighter on the body. After they are done picking out their gear, they head home and get ready for tomorrow. Because they are in the military now, they don’t have to go back to the refugee camp. Adam and Sarah are not alone in this house. They have more roommates living with them. Fortunately for Adam, the roommates are all girls. Adam and Sarah are sharing a house with four other young ladies. Two of the young ladies are twins. They both look identical. However, one of the twins has visible tattoos and the other twin has tattoos where you can’t see them unless she shows you them. Adam and Sarah are welcomed into their new home. They are all going to get along very nicely and develop a friendship. Adam and Sarah head into their rooms and immediately get ready for bed. They have a long day ahead of them tomorrow.
