Just You, Me and a Secret

Amnesiac Meera wants to discover her past. Engaged to Ashruth, who is also her doctor, she is tempted to run away and forge a new life as she wonders how she ever fell in love with him. Starting life afresh, she decides to give him a chance and explore more about her past in the meanwhile. Reading a diary that she had written before the accident, she learns why she fell for Ashruth but her feelings seem to have changed now. She learns that her dad, Prabhu, is a rich business man living happily with her mom, Nadhiya. Most of her diary pages are filled with memories of Santhosh, her cousin. As she reads about Santhosh and his role in her past life, she starts to like him. Ashruth decides to leave Meera at her parent’s residence until their wedding, which is a month away. He tells them that she is like a blank paper and anything that affects her will get imprinted in her. Like a book or a movie, if it affects her deeply, it might make her assume it’s her past. Though she is introduced to her mother and father, she finds herself incapable of trusting them. Santhosh, her cousin, grew up in her house as he had lost his parents to a car accident at a young age. She understands from her diary that he was her best friend, right from childhood. As she browses the old videos and photos, her admiration and respect for Santhosh are rekindled. She doubts whether she was in love with Santhosh and whether she has carried her love from her past. Will she call off her wedding despite knowing the societal consequences? Will she fall for Santhosh? What if she is married to one of the two and gains her memory later? If she was actually in love with Santhosh, why are people hiding it from her? ** Review 'The main conclusion I reached by the conclusion of this marvellous story, was the maturity of the author's writing. I think that it is remarkable for one, relatively youthful, and writing her first book, to capture a mesmerizing tale with such an insight into human beings. She has also written in the first person which I think is very difficult to do. It makes observations too subjective but somehow she has generally avoided that. Often I do not enjoy tales with flashbacks. It interrupts the flow for the reader. However, what she has done is to make the flashbacks relevant to the part of the present tense the story being told. That's good.'-Tony Drury, Writer, UK.  'I held it in my hands in the evening and it was so engrossing that I couldn't keep it. Finished it in one take.'-Neelam, Indian Writer with Limca Book Record.  'The plot of the book seems simple at the beginning, a girl who has lost her memory in an accident, slowly gluing together her life. But the author has some surprises for us along the way making it easy to get lost in the story. The author's narration style is simple and engaging.'-Debdatta, Limca Book Record holder for Book Reviews. ' She manages to hold the attention of the reader with a clear and crisp narrative. She also throws in surprises which makes the reader turn pages one after the other. A great achievement for a debut novelist.'-Preethi, Author 'My new found crush has literally swept me off my feat. No, I am not talking about another damsel in distress. It's these books with smaller, compact story lines. Just You Me and Secret is one such book with barely 120 pages. It's a brisk read from start to finish. The best part is it keeps you guessing till the very end. A promising debut by a talented female writer.' Salesh, Blogger 'Just, you me and a secret" captivates the attention of the reader from the first few lines, and holds it throughout the story.'- Kiran, Popular Blogger Ganga Bharani, a debut author, has done ample justice to her work. She manages to hold the attention of the reader with a clear and crisp narrative. She also throws in surprises which makes the reader turn pages one after the other. A great achievement for a debut novelist. -Preethi Venugopal, Author  There are just a handful of books that I have read in one go and this is one among them. The story could very well be made as a suspense thriller, that would woo the next-gen audience. It had real twists which no one could have ever expected. Thanks, good book!-Lucy I loved the pace of the story. There wasn't the usual unnecessary detailing. Sometimes too much detail can hamper the flow. The only negative in an otherwise engaging plot were the rushed film like portions which could have been avoided.- Salesh The story keeps you glued to the book till you finish it. -CVJ The storyline keeps the reader hooked. -Niranjan Author Ganga Bharani, as a debutante, has proved to the literary world, "Man, I have a great plot and I can write in flawless English. That was all it required to write a fantastic book."-Nandhini About the Author Ganga Bharani Vasudevan is the author of ' Just you, me and a secret', 60 CreativeWriting Prompts and Plots book 1 and book 2, and Plot Engine, among others.Hershort films 'Tiny Steps' and 'Candles' won the Best Film Award and SpecialMention Award in an international film festival. A View of the Harbour

Blindness and betrayal are Elizabeth Taylor's great subjects, and in A View of the Harbour she turns her unsparing gaze on the emotional and sexual politics of a seedy seaside town that's been left behind by modernity. Tory, recently divorced, depends more and more on the company of her neighbors Robert, a doctor, and Beth, a busy author of melodramatic novels. Prudence, Robert and Beth's daughter, disapproves of the intimacy that has grown between her parents and Tory and the gossip it has awakened in their little community. As the novel proceeds, Taylor's view widens to take in a range of characters from bawdy, nosey Mrs. Bracey; to a widowed young proprietor of the local waxworks, Lily Wilson; to the would-be artist Bertram--while the book as a whole offers a beautifully observed and written examination of the fictions around which we construct our lives and manage our losses.
