The Longest Date: Life as a Wife

RetailThe bestselling author of The Between Boyfriends Book and an award-winning writer for Sex and the City and Modern Family takes a hilarious, heartbreaking look at marriage Cindy Chupack has spent much of her adult life writing about dating and relationships for several hit TV series and as a sex columnist for O, The Oprah Magazine. At the age of thirty-nine, she finally found The One—and a wealth of new material. Marriage, Cindy discovered, was more of an adventure than she ever imagined, and in this collection of essays she deftly examines the comedy and cringe-worthy aspects of matrimony. Soulful yet self-deprecating, The Longest Date recounts her first marriage (he was gay) and the meeting of Husband No. 2, Ian. After the courtship and ceremony, both Cindy and Ian realized that happily ever after takes some practice, and near constant negotiation over everyday matters like cooking, sex, holidays, monogamy, and houseguests. The Longest Date takes a serious turn when it comes to infertility. The Longest Date is the perfect companion for anyone navigating a serious relationship, be it newlyweds or couples moving in that direction.**

In Cold Blood

REVENGE IS A DISH BEST SERVED COLD The new book from acclaimed writer Mark Dawson (author of the #1 bestselling JOHN MILTON series), IN COLD BLOOD is an action-packed thriller about ruthless betrayal and bloodthirsty vengeance. Beatrix Rose was the most dangerous assassin in an off-the-books government kill squad until her former boss betrayed her. A decade later, she emerges from the Hong Kong underworld with payback on her mind. They gunned down her husband and kidnapped her daughter, and now the debt needs to be repaid. It’s a blood feud she didn’t start but she is going to finish. Beatrix has already crossed one name off her Kill List. Her second target is a mercenary being held hostage by Somali terrorists. Can she infiltrate the most dangerous failed state on the planet and scrub him off the List, too? Packed with explosive action and page-turning suspense, this is the must-read first novel in a brand new series that is sure to be as successful as the John Milton series.ReviewAmazon readers love the JOHN MILTON series - over 300 reviews of 5* and 4* 'Move over Reacher and Bond' - Kindle reviewer 'I have no hesitation in recommending this - it is the perfect summer read.' - Kindle reviewer 'A new literary hero to look out for.' - Kindle reviewer 'A five star read' - Kindle reviewer 'Outstanding' - Kindle reviewer 'It's simply perfect' - Kindle reviewer 'Faster than a runaway train.' - Kindle reviewer 'Tantalising introduction to a great character' - Kindle reviewer 'That's how many kill shots Milton makes from a half mile. No hesitation, no regret...this guy is as dangerous as they come. Cool like Bond and lethal like...well John Milton.' - Kindle reviewer 'One of the best authors in this genre of story.' - Kindle reviewer From the AuthorQ&A with Mark Dawson Q: Who is Beatrix Rose? Mark: Beatrix was the prime agent in Group 15, a top secret and entirely off-the-books kill squad operated by the British Secret Service. Her story was started in Ghosts, the most recent John Milton novel (although it should be noted that you don't need to have read that book to read this one). She was double crossed by her commanding officer and left for dead in Hong Kong. When Milton's actions allow her to come out of hiding, she has revenge on her mind. I knew I was going to have to finish her story when I was working on Ghosts. She is a strong character with an interesting history, and she allows me to write a series that moves even more quickly than the Milton books. This is flat-out, balls-to-the-wall action set in a series of interesting and very carefully researched locations. Q: So why Somalia? M: Because I haven't read anything else set there, it's an incredibly dangerous place and it's perfect as a setting for the propulsive conclusion that brings this story to a close. Q: The Milton series is going from strength to strength. Why are you starting another? M: John Milton will be back shortly but I just felt that I had to tell this story. Readers have demanded it and I'm happy to oblige. The Milton books are grounded and realistic, with a really carefully developed character who evolves over the course of the series. Beatrix does, too, but I've deliberately given her a specific mission and a fixed deadline within which to achieve it (and I'm not going to spoil that here). Once she gets going, she literally can't stop, and that allows me to crank the tension and action up all the way. I wanted to write a no-holds-barred runaway train of a book, full of action and unexpected twists to leave your stomach in knots. Q: Who are you writing for? M: My readers love big, explosive thrillers. I know from email and reviews that they read all the big names, and I'm very happy that they feel they can enjoy a Ludlum, then a Fleming, and then something by me. These books are carefully crafted with velocity in mind and the intention is that if you read it in bed, you're going to lose sleep. They are designed to be totally unputdownable.
