In 2005, after working for ten years in a comfortable but mundane corporate job in San Antonio, Texas, Vincent Sellers successfully managed to leave behind a dreary cubicle landscape and begin the exciting challenges of a crime-fighting FBI agent. His journey is chronicled in Eyes Pried Open: Rookie FBI Agent. Readers will experience both the highs and the lows of an FBI agent working bank robbery, kidnapping, murder-for-hire cases, and border-related crimes in San Diego, California. The book's from-the-heart narrative demonstrates that the typical lifestyle of an FBI agent assigned to a violent crime squad may not be for everyone. This is the first book to be written from the fresh perspective of an agent who joined the FBI after 9/11.**From the AuthorThank you for your interest in my book. The reason I wrote the book was to paint a portrait, with warts and all, of my experience of becoming an FBI agent. I was (and am) just a normal IT guy that deals with emails and spreadsheets all day. But I did succeed in breaking away into a life of crime-fighting, and I simply wanted to document that incredible journey for friends, family, and anyone who is or has contemplated becoming an agent. Working for the FBI was a dream of mine since high school, and I was honored and thrilled to make it in. My experience at the FBI Academy was enlightening, and is documented in detail (with many of those details being painful). If you are looking for more information on what it "really" is like to go through the FBI Academy, you will gain an insider's perspective with this book. Life as a violent crime-fighting FBI agent is also revealed in full. The thrill of handcuffing and arresting a person, especially for someone with an ordinary "corporate" background, is hard to top. But the lifestyle and repetition of working reactively trying to combat crime that is never-ending is also portrayed; this lifestyle is not for everyone over the long haul, including me. If you are applying to be an agent, I wish you the best of luck with that endeavor. This book will give you an idea of how to navigate that process and what to expect life to be like as an agent. But if you decide not to go down the road less traveled, know that we all contribute to society and can make the world a better place; just do something that allows you to live a fulfilling and happy life, and make the most of every day.I recently created a YouTube series where I discuss in detail each step of the process of becoming an FBI agent; I cover everything that I wish I would have known when I personally went through the process:Episode #1: youtube.com/watch?v=cmzeac3EmMIEpisode #2: youtube.com/watch?v=P6nUZ6w9-K0Episode #3: youtube.com/watch?v=97x6ZulqDigEpisode #4: youtube.com/watch?v=Wi8Kx5PENvsEpisode #5: youtube.com/watch?v=4pV9rKbcS1UEpisode #6: youtube.com/watch?v=eBUbDCC9rNcFor additional information about me or to contact me, be sure to visit my website, vincentsellers.com. Strays, Ed Kavanagh’s first work of fiction since the award-winning novel The Confessions of Nipper Mooney, features ten memorable stories that explore the lives of those who somehow find themselves adrift. In “The Strayaway Child” a ninety-year-old woman recalls her girlhood during the Great Depression when she was a “sad, silent little nobody”; in “The Red Merc” a boy learns deep truths about his often absent father; and in “The Wind” a Newfoundlander in a big Canadian city struggles with issues of identity. Affecting, finely crafted, and often humorous, Strays speaks, ultimately, to our desire to belong.Ed Kavanagh grew up in Kilbride, Newfoundland, and now lives in Mount Pearl. He is the author of the award-winning, Confessions of Nipper Mooney. Strays was nominated for the Thomas Head Raddall Award for Fiction and the Writers’ Alliance of Newfoundland’s Award for Fiction. If Ryu Murakami had written War and PeaceAs the introduction to this book will tell you, the books by Gromov, obscure and long forgotten propaganda author of the Soviet era, have such an effect on their readers that they suddenly enjoy supernatural powers. Understandably, their readers need to keep accessing these books at all cost and gather into groups around book-bearers, or, as they're called, librarians. Alexei, until now a loser, comes to collect an uncle's inheritance and unexpectedly becomes a librarian. He tells his extraordinary, unbelievable story. Views: 20

She has even less regard for these immoral modern day women, who don’t hesitate to prey on men in committed relationships. What is wrong with them?! Don't they care that they're breaking hearts and destroying lives?! Rebecca, with her high morals and family values, would never even consider dating a married man. Which is why her friends are so shocked when Rebecca finds herself doing exactly that—albeit at the fervent request of that man’s very own wife, the notorious Isabella Coombs. At first, Rebecca likes to think of it as helping someone out—female camaraderie, and all that. But she doesn't expect Isabella’s husband to be quite so charming…or for things to go quite so far.
