She recalls an unpleasant appointment that same day which brings up more than just bad memories from her trip on the mountain, and she is confronted with a final choice that will change her life forever. Welcome Home #10: Tony is confronted with the truth of Amanda's infidelity, and she seeks to make amends in the most pleasing way possible. The Bucket

The Bucket by Allan Ahlberg - the enthralling childhood story one of Britain's best-loved children's authors'My mother, who was not my mother, I see her now, her raw red cleaner's hands twisting away at her apron as she struggled to speak. Adoption was a shameful business then in many people's eyes, the babies being mostly illegitimate. Better not speak of it.'Allan Ahlberg was adopted as a baby. In 1938 he was picked up in London by his new mother and taken back to Oldbury in the Black Country. Now one of the most successful children's book writers in the world, in The Bucket he describes an oddly enchanted childhood lived out in an industrial town during the 1940s, in conditions which today we might describe as 'deprived'. He writes of a father in overalls smelling of wood shavings and oil, of a tough and fiercely protective mother who cries when he discovers that he is adopted, of life assurance policies ('£6 if the child dies under age 3')...

Meet Henry Adams he loves going to haunted attractions, but was getting bored and not scared anymore, so he decided he was going to make his own Haunted attraction that would be to die for literally. Henry wanted to be the envy of all Halloween attractions and he is going to do it in a deadly way. Henry knew if he was going to pull this off it had to be done in a big way. Halloween was just a couple months away, and he had to think of something special to do that would alleviate his loneliness in the dilapidated Mansion out in the country where he was living all alone. Then out of the blue he said, "I know just the perfect thing to do this Halloween, and that would be to turn my mansion into a real life Haunted Mansion, but this has to be the real thing not just a bunch of props. That night as Henry was daydreaming about what to do on his couch he wasn't about to doze off because if he did he probably would forget. Henry immediately got off the couch, and turned on the light, and got a piece of paper to write down his thoughts, and act on them in the morning. After about an hour, and nonstop writing Henry finally passed out on the couch with a beer in one hand, and the paper he was writing down his thoughts on was lying on his chest. The beer Henry had in his hand dropped to the floor spilling everywhere, but Henry was fast asleep and didn't hear a thing.Morning finally arrived and Henry awoke to the sunlight beaming through the living room window. Henry wiped his eyes and grabbed his paper full of ideas then stepped down off the couch into a pool of beer getting his socks soaking wet. Henry said, "I must have really been out of it last night." Then he went over to the kitchen to get a towel and clean up the spilled beer. He made himself some breakfast and sat at the kitchen table going over his ideas. When he was through eating his breakfast he got on his clothes, and took his to do list with him then got in his car eager to get the things he needed to turn his Mansion into a real life Haunted Mansion.Henry went into town to the Halloween store for a fog machine to give his yard the kind of look that you would see in scary movies. He also got things from the Halloween store such as spooky music, strobe lights, black lights and cob webs. Henry was excited to see his fantasy unfolding right in front of him.

What Things Cost

What Things Cost: an anthology for the people is the first major anthology of labor writing in nearly a century. Here, editors Rebecca Gayle Howell & Ashley M. Jones bring together more than one hundred contemporary writers singing out from the corners of the 99 Percent, each telling their own truth of today's economy. In his final days, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. called for a "multiracial coalition of the working poor." King hoped this coalition would become the next civil rights movement but he was assassinated before he could see it emerge as the Poor People's Campaign, now led by Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II and Rev. Dr. Liz Theoharis. King's last lesson—about the dangers of dividing working people—inspired the conversation gathered here by Jones and Howell. Fifty-five years after the assassination of King, What Things Cost collects stories that are honest, provocative, and galvanizing, sharing the hidden costs of labor and...
