The Little Mermaid Who Loved Too Much

Adrian the mermaid is on a quest for love... and eventually vengeance. But mostly love. In this twisted fairy tale wrought with irony, it presents a more realistic ending to the conventional love story, albeit that it gets there along the most absurd path possible. This also ties into the Twisted Fairy Tales universe that has ruined so many childhoods thus far.Not recommended for children. In the days leading up to "Mother Goose: an Empire Falls" we find a sordid love story between Adrian, a ferocious mermaid adapted to living in the depths of the ocean, and Captain Rehab, a man with a grisly past. Their ongoing game of Cat and Mouse has been carrying on for years until it culminates in an Arctic show down. Not a story recommended for children, this tale will lampoon your childhood favorites along with cameos from literary greats. It also ties into the story of Mother Goose and explains how Goldilocks convinced the sea people to come to her aid. If you delight in absurd humor with cyclical plots and narrations that go out of their way to obliterate the fourth wall, this is the story for you.

Abby

As it turns out, Maxwell is much more than the product of a young girl's over-active imagination. The Shining West, free from the yoke of the Loszian Empire, has long stood as a beacon of freedom, guarding its people from the evils of the Loszians. Aquis is the largest of the Western Kingdoms, ruled by its benificent Queen Erella, High Priestess to Garod, leader of the gods of light. The son of a farmer in the bountiful kingdom Aquis, Cor Pelson had always been different. Shortly after he was born came the horrific coughing attacks, and his skin changed color to a gray reminiscent of the grave. He is a Dahken, a race the Loszian necromancers fear, reviled by the Western priests, and thought extinct by both. As a child, strangers entered his life, even if only briefly, and drove home that there are those that would bend him to their wills. Frightened and determined to protect those he loves, Cor steals away from home. He finds that the world is not the good, safe place that his parents taught him of, but in fact is a cruel, brutal place where blood flows readily and the ability to protect himself is paramount. He finds, even on the open sea, that those who would control the power within his blood follow him, intent on inflicting harm upon those around him. He must learn to tap the power within his blood to find his own path, take revenge and build a new world for his kind.

New Years Resolution: Solve Americas Biggest Problem, End up Bitter and Cynical

An amusing rant by a visionary idealist with one crackpot idea after another. He sets off on a manic trip to Washington D.C. to solve the big problems. He's all about saving the planet, changing the world and transforming America into a healthier, cheaper and friendlier place. He lays out his grandiose ideas about affordable health care, housing and transportation as he follows his bliss.I wrote this series in 2005 for the Coastal Post, a Marin county monthly newspaper, an icon of the Free Press in the SF Bay Area that published my articles and columns from 1990 until its untimely demise in 2010. This series was written as a Walter Mitty adventure tale in a stream of consciousness style based on several manic clients I'd evaluated as a psychiatric crisis clinician. They were always the most interesting and quotable in my case notes, with their pressured speech, quick slants down field, leaping receptions and absolute conviction about their concepts. You might say that sounds like all my writing, but this was deliberate. My sister said it was the funniest articles I ever wrote, or at least shared with her, so that's an endorsement. The first article in this series was the seed concept for my book on reforming health care, Save Trillions with Universal Health Care. This first New Year's health care solution was a little more twisted, as are those for affordable housing and healthy transportation. I've developed more evidence based solutions for these too included in Lose Weight, Save Money. and Really Reduce Greenhouse Gases. I've edited the series from those original articles to tighten it up and match Smashwords format. I've included scanned illustrations from different versions of Peter Pan. The cover image is from an adventure in Oz illustration, I forget which book. This is an experiment to see whether smashwords grinds up images.

A Lost Girls Book of Poetry

This poetry has been written during strong emotional times. These poems are how I interpret my feelings. They have to do with love, loss abuse. nature and more. This is a short fictional story, inspired by thinking about the words supposition and speculation. Observing people in daily life, recalling snippets of overheard conversations and the comments of strangers enabled me to stitch together a contemporary scenario wherein a woman notices a young male emerging from a public toilet in a park and notes that he looks ill or ill at ease. The woman is somehow moved to feel concern for his welfare. An older man who is known to the woman exits the toilet block immediately after the young male. This sets off a spark of curious imaginings by the woman as to what might have occurred, if anything, between the two men. Plagued by doubt and speculation, the woman begins to observe the older man at his place of work and she questions his character and possible motives.
