Languish

There was a time when all Violet Willoughby could see were the ghosts that crowded her at every turn—standing outside of her bedroom window, whirling between couples at balls, and following her around the grounds of Lord Jasper's extensive estate. But ever since she solved the murder of a debutante and laid her ghost to rest, her third eye has been frustratingly closed. In an attempt to open re-awaken her pyschic talents, Violet tries to communicate with The Lonely Lord, a restless ghost rumored to haunt the local graveyard and to bestow luck in love upon couples. But when she inadvertantly awakens a mysterious, bloodthirsty spirit determined to kill Colin and Lord Jasper—the two men she cares for most in the world—Violet must once again focus her talents on preventing an unknown killer from striking again.

Conundrums for the Long Week-End

Lord Peter Wimsey-amateur detective, man of fashion, talented musician, and wealthy intellectual-is known to legions of readers. His enduring presence and popularity is a tribute to his creator, Dorothy L. Sayers, who brought Lord Peter to life during "the long week-end" between the First and Second World Wars, as British aristocracy began to change, making way for a modern world. In Conundrums for the Long Week-End, Robert McGregor and Ethan Lewis explore how Sayers used her fictional hero to comment on, and come to terms with, the social upheaval of the time: world wars, the crumbling of the privileged aristocracy, the rise of democracy, and the expanding struggle of women for equality.

Tracking Bodhidharma

The life of Bodhidharma, the founder of Zen Buddhism, has, with the passing of time, been magnified to the scale of myth, turning history into the stuff of legend. Known as the First Patriarch, Bodhidharma brought Zen from South India into China in 500 CE, changing the country forever. In Tracking Bodhidharma, Andrew Ferguson recreates the path of Bodhidharma, traveling through China to the places where the First Patriarch lived and taught. This sacred trail takes Ferguson deep into ancient China, and allows him to explore the origins of Chan [Zen] Buddhism, the cultural aftermath that Bodhidharma left in his wake, and the stories of a man who shaped a civilization.Tracking Bodhidharma offers a previously unheard perspective on the life of Zen's most important religious leader, while simultaneously showing how that history is relevant to the rapidly developing super-power that is present-day China. By placing Zen Buddhism within the country's political...

Nothing but Love

A WLVH Radio Series and Everything But... Series short story.Take one WLVH disc jockey who adopts a special dog.Add in one man who thinks he's lost everything.Let one Everything But... grandmother, Nana Vancy, stir things up.And maybe find Nothing But Love in this story that's full of Christmas magic. From the AuthorI wrote this story to give readers a brief introduction to my two Avalon series, The WLVH Radio series, and The Everything But... series.  I wrote the books for Avalon, a small mainstream publisher that distributed beautiful hardback books to libraries.  In June 2012, Montlake Romance bought Avalon, along with its backlist. Montlake has rereleased all the books in both series in both paperback and eBook versions. As a writer I'm thrilled to see the two series get a chance to reach a whole new group of readers.  And as a dog owner, I'm happy to tell a story about a special little dog who found her forever home with a WLVH disc jockey...and the man she falls for.  I have written romantic comedy since I started writing.  Someone once called one of my comedies "frothy" and I was so complimented. That's exactly what these books are meant to be, "frothy" treats.  Stories to give you a break from the real world for a little bit.  I'm still writing more emotional, heart-tugging stories for Harlequin's SuperRomance.  I enjoy writing them as well.  But my first love is frothy romantic comedies, or sweet humorous romances. I hope you'll check out the WLVH Radio and the Everything But... books. And I so hope you enjoyed this first Nothing But... short story!  Merry Christmas!HollyWVLH Series and Everything But...series short stories:Nothing But Love, 12/12Nothing But Heart, 2/13Nothing But Luck, 3/13WLVH Radio--where love is more than just a song--series:Pickup LinesLovehandlesNight CallsLaugh LinesEverything But--where every Hungarian knows that words have power--series:Everything But a Groom (named one of Booklist's Top 10 Romances of '08)Everything But a BrideEverything But a WeddingEverything But a Christmas EveEverything But a MotherEverything But a Dog From the Back CoverWatch for a second short story,  Nothing But Heart, 2/13.And the final short story, Nothing But Luck, 3/13.

Sherwood Anderson

In the winter of 1912, Sherwood Anderson (1876--1941) abruptly left his office and spent three days wandering through the Ohio countryside, a victim of "nervous exhaustion." Over the next few years, abandoning his family and his business, he resolved to become a writer. Novels and poetry followed, but it was with the story collection Winesburg, Ohio that he found his ideal form, remaking the American short story for the modern era. Hart Crane, one of the first to recognize Anderson's genius, quickly hailed his accomplishment: "America should read this book on her knees." Here--for the first time in a single volume--are all the collections Anderson published during his lifetime: Winesburg, Ohio (1919), The Triumph of the Egg (1921), Horses and Men (1923), and Death in the Woods (1933), along with a generous selection of stories left uncollected or unpublished at his death. Exploring the hidden recesses of small town life, these...
