Former medical examiner Kiernan O'Shaughnessy investigates a scandalous suicide in a Catholic churchQuick-witted, precise, and comfortable with corpses, Kiernan O'Shaughnessy was perfectly suited to life as a medical examiner. Enraged and adrift, she made her way to La Jolla, California, to set up a high-class private investigation service for medically suspicious deaths. She works only the cases she wants, and charges a steep enough fee that she can afford a cherry red Triumph and a former NFL player as a houseman. Her latest client is one of the biggest moneymakers on the planet: the Roman Catholic Church.A troubled young priest is found hanged in Mission San Leo in Phoenix, Arizona. Hoping to avoid scandal, the bishop bypasses the police, and hires Kiernan to determine whether the death was an accident or a suicide. They ask her to be quiet, but the secrets she... Views: 21
A delightful, deeply funny novel about the triumph of the perfect prankster — an elegant gentleman pickpocket in Cairo. His eyes "shine with a glimmer of perpetual amusement"; his sartorial taste is impeccable; Ossama is "a thief, not a legitimated thief, such as a minister, banker, or real-estate developer; he is a modest thief." He knows "that by dressing with the same elegance as the licensed robbers of the people, he could elude the mistrustful gaze of the police," and so he glides lazily around the cafe´s of Cairo, seeking his prey. His country may be a disaster, but he's a hedonist convinced that "nothing on this earth is tragic for an intelligent man."One fat victim ("everything about him oozed opulence and theft on a grand scale") is relieved of his crocodile wallet. In it Ossama finds not just a gratifying amount of cash, but also a letter — a letter from the Ministry of Public Works, cutting off its ties to the fat man. A source of rich... Views: 21

Under all my soft girl exterior and inner demon, turns out I'm more girl than demon. A stupid girl it would seem and this is my misadventure.*I just hope it's not my last...*Daria Pigwidgeon hasn't had an easy life. Not when she is the only demon born with a soul - and the only one to have grown up with a family of pure demons. All she ever known was pain and abandonment. Her family never let her forget that she was nothing but an abomination. So taking her life into her own hands, she flees hundreds of miles across the Country to start over. What she finds will change everything she ever thought she knew about herself. While learning the ways of regular humans, Daria relinquishes the lure of using her demon gifted abilities to remain anonymous in her new life. Of course, this only makes other things overly complicated like her feelings for her neighbor, Chance. He is the one person that can make her feel safe and terrified all at the same time. She has always known how to protect herself; she just never thought to protect her heart, especially when it comes to the unknown. Then there is the fact that her family found her somehow and won't take no for an answer. She struggles with remembering why she ran away from them in the first place. Suddenly her past is wrapped up into her present and sooner or later she'll have to make a choice, a choice that could change everything. When an unseen force starts following her around like a bad habit reeking of fear, Daria will have to take a good look at everyone that is around her. Her friends, her family, they all become suspect. Something is trying to kill her and even if it's the last thing she does, she'll find out a way to change her destined fate.Word Count: 115,543 (approximate)ReviewReview by: Dianne on December 16, 2011Daria is so painfully likeable, love her 'attitude' and resilience! There isn't a heavy paranormal thing going, but it is there, mostly through Daria's thoughts. The 'romantic tension' between the main characters is palpable. Vinculum.
A word hastily scrawled on a scrap of paper left behind by his long dead parents, becomes much more than a mystery. It becomes Adriel’s world.
Adriel struggled with his life, travelling the world and searching for his place in it. Things no human should ever think about.
