King of the Perverts

Finalist for the 2012 Wonderland Book Award for Best Novel Poor Dennis. He’s a regular sort of guy who’s recently been dealt a shitty hand by life: he lost his job, his wife hates him and wants a divorce, and it turns out she was also cheating on him as well. Now he’s living on his brother’s couch. Holy fuck, that sucks. Dennis can’t imagine things could get much worse, and that’s why he jumped at the opportunity to take part in a new reality game show: a “sexcathlon” where the first person to achieve 10 increasingly difficult and perverted sexual challenges wins a million dollars and is crowned King of the Perverts. Dennis doesn’t care about the title, he just wants the money, but now he’s not sure he can make it to the end. Enduring a golden shower and following through with an Abe Lincoln are hard enough, but he’s losing his nerve and fears what act of perversion will come next. He’d like to drop out, but his Russian bear of a cameraman, Mongo, has other plans for him and that million dollar prize, and Dennis has to decide which is worse: winning the King of the Perverts, or losing it.

The Beat: A True Account of the Bondi Gay Murders

In June 2011, 12 year after television newsreader Ross Warren disappeared following an evening out with friends in Sydney, a police operation was set up to reinvestigate the disappearance. What this new investigation uncovered was to prove far more interesting than the anticipated ‘missing persons’ case. This was only the starting point for Operation Taradale, which quickly turned into a horrifying saga of multiple murders committed mostly within a few hundred metres of each other – in Marks Park, the beat, the scrubby, rocky headland between Bondi and Tamarama.I.J. Fenn moves the story along with the pace of a detective thriller. Telephones are tapped, surveillance operations put in place, crime scenes re-enacted to ignite media interest and arrests are made. The Beat is an ugly story about ugly people committing ugly crimes. This is a disturbing book but you will not be able to put it down.

Obsidian

From the AuthorObsidian wasn't the first book I wrote, but it was the first book that I sold. For me, that was a wonderful, heart stopping moment when I realized that anything really was possible. Obsidian also holds a special place in my heart as it's set in a fictional town that is based on my own hometown. For those that know me they are able to pick out the local landscape as they read through my story. I only hope I did it justice. Shelby's story is unfortunately a sad tale that plays out quite often in the small fishing communities along the coast. The work and the living is hard and the fight to just make it day to day can sometimes mean the loss of a loved one. But being a true Mainer, Shelby carries on and takes on the task of taking care of everyone else that needs it as well. Jamie is a tribute to my father. I'd long wanted to create a Coast Guard hero for him. What these men do on a daily basis is nothing short of heroic and hard. Like Shelby, Jamie is dealing with loss in his own way. He's determined to do anything to find out who killed his friend. I gave him the opportunity by coming to Maine. My thanks go out to the USCG members who were patient and gave me information. I appreciate it. Any mistakes or inconsistencies are my own work of fiction. I hope you all fall in love with this place and these characters. They truly come from my heart.
