Into the Hinterlands-ARC

SUMMARY:#1 in a new series from a military science fiction master with over 3 million books in print. A young hero comes of age in the crucible of war and galactic struggle. When Allen Allenson, scion of a noble family that has fallen on hard times, gets a mission to roust the power-hungry Terrans from a “wild” star sector where they’re encroaching, he jumps at the chance to show his individual worth, improve his family’s fortunes – and gather enough lucre to make a good marriage. But the wily Terrans are not so easily persuaded by a young colonial they think of as a “rube.” Worse, “Riders,” the beings who naturally ply the wilderness between the stars, are playing their own deadly political games – against the Terrans, against the colonials, and against one young greenhorn commander in particular: naÏf young Allen, whom they figure they can manipulate to do their bidding. The one thing nobody has counted on is the fact that Allen, while young and inexperienced, and much to his own amazement, happens to be a hero in the making. Murder on a Ghost Ship (High Seas Mystery Series Book 2)

When the president of Constellation Cruise Lines, Emily Schultz, buys an old cruise ship at a bargain price, she doesn’t discover there’s a ghost aboard until it’s too late to cancel the deal. Desperate for help, Emily calls Kayla Sanders and Natalia Baliskov back to work. They embark on a frantic search to discover the identity of the ghost and her murderer. The “Lady” tries to communicate by flooding Kayla with crazy visions of the ship from her final voyage. Kayla realizes the ghost is afraid her murderer will kill another passenger sailing on their next cruise. The entire ship is filled with suspects and potential victims, since everyone on the Sea Mist is a repeat passenger. The investigation ramps up when Kayla’s fiancé, Steven Young joins her onboard the ship. Suspended from Interpol after his partner got killed, Steven feels guilty and incompetent. While tracking down clever smugglers selling black market antiquities throughout the Mediterranean, Steven’s partner got too close. Steven doesn’t know there’s a leak inside Interpol! After the smugglers murdered his partner, they traced Steven to Colorado and wrecked Kayla’s cottage. Now they know he’s onboard the Sea Mist and want to kill him. Kayla must interpret her visions from the Lady in time to prevent another murder, and Steven needs to unmask the ruthless leader of the smuggling ring to get his job back. Their future depends on mutual success. **About the Author Diane Rapp became an entrepreneur when she started her own dog grooming salon in Santa Barbara, California. The Devil She Knows

An audacious thriller from a major new talentLife isn't panning out for Maureen Coughlin. At twenty-nine, the tough-skinned Staten Island native's only excitement comes from . . . well, not much. But just like the island, the Narrows has its seamy side. After work one night, Maureen walks in on a tryst between her co-worker Dennis and Frank Sebastian, a silver-haired politico. Renewal

In a post-collapse America, a young Reclamation Engineer is tasked with seeking and restoring farmland from dead suburban sprawl. On his first solo assignment, he encounters something that threatens to change everything he knows about the America of his generation.Author's Notes: One of my reviewers gave me some great advice (Thanks, Stable Boy!), which should have been obvious from the beginning. That is, simply to describe what you are getting for your 99 cents. Renewal is the first part in a series. It's also the shortest part, weighing in at 17,500 words, give or take. The rest of the story is told in the following parts. Most of those range from 20,000 - 28,000 words. I didn't have a grand plan (or even a mini plan) until I was halfway through the series. Thanks to my lack of experience, it just came out that way. In any case, I just wanted to let you know that you are getting a novella's worth of reading in a series that tells a lengthy novel's worth of story. I'm thankful that many have found the tale worthwhile, and I hope that you will too.In the course of writing this series, I've learned enough to write the continuing story, beyond the series, in full novel-length releases. With a bit of experience under my belt, I believe that novel releases work a bit better for everyone. I hope you'll come along for the ride. Thanks and regards,JF Perkins
