In October 2019, a group of conference attendees gathered together in what they thought would be a regular conference session. Instead, they were put to the task of brainstorming ideas.

The big idea resulting from the session - Virgin Shifters!

Each author wrote their own take on the subject. There are some sweet stories and a few more erotic stories within the boxset.

I hope you enjoy the offerings presented.

  Chapter One

“Not…gonna…” Colin pressed the weight over his head, his vision narrowed as the thud-thud in his ears grew stronger. His elbows locked out as well as his knees. He stood tall, weight fully extended over his head. “One, two,” he counted mostly to himself, though the words might have come out as a groan before he let the weight drop to his waist before he let go of the barbell. The weights bounced on the pad under his feet, muffling the sound, but not too much that they didn’t give off a satisfying clink-clank. A few people across the gym turned to stare at him, or maybe they were staring at Rod, his lifting buddy who was jumping up and down, making an ass of himself as he pumped his fists.

“Holy crap, Colin, that was freaking amazing.” Rod slapped him on the back, then repositioned to take off one of the weight plates. “What was that? A forty-pound increase.”

Colin shrugged. “Maybe.” The increase seemed impossible. He’d been working on building muscle, but jumping by forty pounds in less than a week blew his mind. How did increases like that happen?

Rod patted him on the back. “Give me a minute. I’ll be right back.”

“Sure,” he said as he turned.

“Looking good, Colin.” Debbie, the woman who worked the front desk, stepped over as Rod left. Her smile widened as she wrapped her arms under her breasts and pushed them up like they were on display for him.

Colin squirmed as he tempered his enthusiasm, trying not to show too much emotion toward Debbie. The last thing he wanted to do was lead her on. She wasn’t his type and wouldn’t ever be. “Thank you.”

Right as he spoke, the object of his current dirty dreams walked out of the men’s locker room and turned to face him. The cute guy’s smile fell as Debbie stepped closer and ran her hand down his arm. Colin wanted to tell the guy Debbie meant nothing, but sexy man wasn’t paying attention. Instead, he was headed over to the treadmills.

“You got so many muscles. I’d really like to talk to you about how you built so fast.”

His gaze jerked back to her, a frown turning down his lips. What was she implying? Did she think he’d taken some type of chemical to build faster? He wasn’t juicing and never would.

“I just lifted and ate well.”

Her gaze traveled slowly down his body, staring like she wanted to lick him like an ice cream cone on a hot summer day. He took a step back and frowned, hopefully giving off a “no thank you” vibe.

She didn’t take the hint and stepped closer to him. “I’d still like to spend some time with you. Maybe you could take me out this weekend.”

He froze for a second as panic slid through him. “I’m sorry, I have plans.” Jesus. Couldn’t he come up with something better? He didn’t want to out himself here. Not yet, anyway.

Moving to St Louis had been the best thing after the disaster from coming out to his foster family. They’d freaked out, setting his clothes and other stuff in trash bags at the curb. They’d changed their locks and basically told him to get the hell out of their lives. He’d been homeless for a few months, finally finding a place to live while he earned enough money for a bus ticket and his certificate to be a personal trainer. He’d had to sell off everything of value, like his stereo, the TV he’d bought, along with his computer. He still had his phone, which made working possible with his scheduling application.

“Oh.” Debbie’s lips turned down in a frown and her eyebrows pinched together. He had a feeling she wasn’t told no too often.

“Debbie, front desk,” Matt called out to her. Matt was one of Colin’s best friends here. When he’d come here to apply for a job, Matt had taken to him almost immediately, hiring him on the spot. Colin had no clue why Matt had been so nice, but he wasn’t going to complain. Matt had turned out not just to be a nice guy, but a good friend, too.

“Hey, buddy.” Matt stepped over and did an intricate handshake with him, then pulled him close for a bro-hug. He didn’t think Matt knew he was gay or would care if he did know. “How’s it going?”

He chuckled and couldn’t help the smile that spread over his face. “Good.”

Rod came over, wiping his hands on a paper towel. “He just hit a forty-pound increase over last week.”

Matt blew out a breath that turned into a whistle. “Wow. That’s a huge increase. What happened?”

Colin shrugged, not wanting to talk about the weirdness he’d experienced in the last few days. Maybe he was overexaggerating situations in his mind. He’d woken up more than once in the last week craving meat. One morning at around two, he found himself standing in the kitchen with the refrigerator wide open. The chicken he’d cooked the night before that should have lasted him four meals was totally gone. He was eating like he was starving, and he knew starving after spending months homeless.

Back then, if he’d found a half-eaten hamburger in the trash, he would have jumped on it. He wasn’t pulling stuff from the trash, but he was chowing down every chance he got. He thought back over the last few weeks and had no clue what had changed. His eating picked up about the time he spotted the sexy man he’d been dreaming about. There was no way the two were connected. It had to be something else.

  “He’s a beast, that’s what,” Rod said.

He waved off their praise as his gaze slid over the crowd in the other part of the gym, stopping on his fantasy guy. The man ran on the treadmill like he was being chased by demons. Colin wanted to go over and help him get away. They could run into a dark alley and then he would touch the—

“Earth to Colin, what are you staring at?” Rod asked.

“Nothing.” Colin heated with embarrassment as he angled to the right to put up the weight bar. He lifted the bar and thought he’d just lowered it into position, but the holder came off the wall. He reached out, grabbing the four bars hanging from the wall, trying to keep them from falling. One of the bars went rogue and knocked him in the face, right under his cheek. Pain flashed hot.

“Shit, Colin, you okay?” Matt asked as he grabbed the bar that had busted his cheek.

  “Damn,” Rod said. “You’re bleeding.”

A rag was shoved into his hand. He covered his cheek, hating that he’d made a mess. “God, I’m sorry.”

Matt examined the hole in the wall as Rod picked up the bars. He felt awful for ripping it off the wall. What was up with that?

“I thought that was in a stud,” Matt said.

“You all okay back here?” Debbie stepped over, her forehead wrinkled with worry.

“Yes,” Matt called out. “I’ll take care of this.”

Debbie didn’t leave for a moment, then she took off when the door opened and two people walked in.

Matt bent to clean the mess from the broken drywall. Colin tried to help, but Matt waved him off. “Have Rod patch you up. I’ll get this.”

“I’m sorry.” What had happened? Had he actually ripped that bar hanger off the wall?
