  Love at First Clutch

Take him or mate him? Kieran’s time is running out. Can the hunky doctor rescue him from his doomed fate?

Terribly long shifts interrupt Gideon’s personal life. He dates whenever he has the chance, but none of them lead to a relationship. Although he was aware of the sacrifice, his ultimate goal was to make people feel better. But how could he when he wasn’t feeling like himself? Gideon must turn it around before he harms someone else or ruins his reputation.

Kieran swam from Necetune to see life beyond his underwater bubble. Why not when there was nothing left back home after he’d lost the one he lusted for to a human. Without those emotions, he could take pleasure in the stupid Earthlings. That’s if his sexual impulses don’t get in the way. Despite his natural cravings, Kieran doesn’t want to get pregnant, but his adamant refusal could destroy him.

After an exhausting sixteen hour day, Gideon literally runs into a man. Even though he’s concerned for his welfare, he can’t help but desire this beautiful stranger. Kieran also feels the pull, but can he trust the gorgeous medic to keep his secret and fight off his urge to breed?

The clock is ticking away fast!

Love at First Clutch is a gay tentacle romance featuring an alien who just wants to have fun and a lonely doctor who needs a boyfriend. This low angst novella includes swoony get togethers, dirty talk, hot sex, and MPREG. To understand the Necetune make-up, it is recommended to read Love at First Crush. If you enjoy alien/human hookups that end with a happily ever after, you’ll love this book!

  Chapter One

  London, England

Kiernan hadn’t been home in a week.

When not working, he was banging someone. Or at the parties people invited him to. He was the hottest face outside of David Gandy. Why the hell wouldn’t he try getting as much ass as humanly possible? Although it hurt not to have someone to call his own, that feeling quickly disappeared when he thought of the shit that came with committed relationships.

The emotional hang-ups, being careful not to hurt someone else’s feelings, and then those three little words he had an issue with saying.

  I love you.

Yeah, relationships weren’t all they were cracked up to be.

Kiernan had never been in one but watching his parent’s marriage fall apart before he became a teenager left an indelible mark on him. The divorce was nasty and often Kiernan had to make a choice of who to stay with. Kiernan used to cry himself to sleep, wondering why his folks couldn’t make it work? By the time he’d fully grown up, Kiernan had his answer, which made him swear off anything serious.

There were too many pitfalls and dammit, Kiernan loved his freedom. How else would he flirt with every man walking the planet?

Married, single, straight, gay, bisexual, didn’t fucking matter. He loved sex, the teasing, the thrill of the chase. He’d take that over being wrapped up in one person any day.

Kiernan was young, not dumb, and, uh, you get the picture. Every man who looked at him nearly fell over themselves to get close. If they were lucky, they might get a wink, a smile, or even time with the gorgeous hunk who graced magazine covers worldwide. Kiernan knew this, so he used it to get anything he wanted and then some.

On this particular day, Kiernan was leaving a man’s house on the way to yet another shoot. Tonight, he’d be leaving Europe for a fashion show in Los Angeles. A well-known designer had offered him extra if he cleared his schedule to don his clothes at an exclusive event. Kiernan’s agency wasn’t too fond of the guy, but no way would Kiernan refuse.

Besides, the money was so good, which meant he could take a well-deserved vacation. Perhaps he should even spend two more weeks to find a boyfriend to hang out with while he was there. It had been a while, so he figured asking his people to take him off the schedule shouldn’t be an issue.

Kiernan’s appointment time was at six a.m., but he’d already told them he’d be late. Although they weren’t happy, they agreed to wait until he arrived. With the US modeling stint coming up he would’ve been fine if they cancelled. Then he could’ve hopped back in bed with the silver daddy that had entertained him the last two nights.

  Hot damn.

The guy was one of the best photographers in Europe — really the world. After taking Kiernan’s photos they ended up making out on the studio floor which led to hot times b
ack at the man’s upscale apartment. Honestly, Kiernan hated to leave, but he wouldn’t ditch an appointment. No matter how good the sex was, he had a job to do.

Once Kiernan’s taxi arrived at the desired address, he slid his card through the pay machine, then ripped off his receipt. “Thanks, for getting me here so quickly.” He winked at the older driver just for kicks.

“You’re welcome, sir. And I appreciate the hefty tip.” He saluted Kiernan, then smiled at him through the rear view.

Kiernan snickered and got out, adjusting his clothes. Though the modeling team would give him a new outfit, he didn’t want to appear disheveled. Nothing worse than a late sloppy model. Any bad publicity would travel fast and ruin his reputation, something even a hot commodity like Kiernan could not afford.

After Kiernan straightened his pants, he ran up the couple of steps to the studio. He rang the buzzer and waited for someone to respond.

  “Yes?”

  “It’s Kiernan.”

“All right. Your outfit is in the bathroom on the lower level, to your left. Please change into it and when you finish, come into the main studio area for makeup.”

  “Got it.”

When the door clicked, Kiernan walked inside. He pulled his jacket off as he strolled to the bathroom. He tossed it over his arm, then knocked to make sure it was unoccupied.

After Kiernan surmised it was empty, he hung his jacket on the hook to the side of the mirror and checked out the suit they had waiting for him.

“Hmm. Snazzy.” Kiernan whistled low. Just as he started unbuttoning his shirt, his groin tightened. “Damn, I gotta piss.”

Quickly, Kiernan unzipped and scampered to the urinal. He unzipped his pants to relieve himself. While reminiscing about this morning’s activities, he sighed contentedly. That photographer made him hurt in delicious ways, with bruising kisses, the biting, and oh the fun they’d had with toys.

The man was a natural lover. So good, Kiernan was almost fooled into wanting more than just a fling. But then again, how long would the sex be that phenomenal? As much as Kiernan wanted to stick around and find out, he quickly talked himself out of it.

After he’d finished, Kiernan kicked off his shoes and then his pants. He picked everything up and folded it neatly, setting it on a small table near the shower stall. He started unbuttoning his shirt when a strange groan sounded from behind the shower curtain.

  “What the?”

Kiernan frowned, wondering if someone was there. He’d knocked before, but whose to say it wasn’t occupied? He leaned in close to the shower curtain but didn’t pull it back.

Again, the noise sounded, a little louder this time, and closer to a growl than a groan. “Is somebody in here?”

  No answer.

Not even the guttural growl he’d heard before. Kiernan wondered what the hell it was. Could it be a wounded animal or someone too sick to speak? Either way, Kiernan was curious to find out.

Although Kiernan was a tad intimidated, he placed a shaky hand on the curtain. He gulped hard and pursed his lips, then yanked it backwards.

“Eeeeechhhyyyyy!” Something with a large head and tentacles squealed making the foundation shake.

“Ahhh!” When Kiernan noticed the octopus looking thing in the bathtub, he fell backwards. Before Kiernan could get away, the monster grabbed him by his shirt with two of its tentacles, then wrapped another around his throat, squeezing it tightly.

With all his might Kiernan tried to push the thing off. He slapped what he assumed to be an octopus on the head repeatedly, but nothing seemed to phase it.

“Help! Ugh, pleasssse. No!” Kiernan sensed himself getting lightheaded. His breath caught in his chest and his body was quickly going numb.

“Mine now!” The monster’s garbled voice was the last thing Kiernan heard, before everything went dark.

“Dr. Gideon? I’m going home for the night. I left your lunch in the minifridge.”

“Thanks Janet. Have a good evening.” Gideon perused a patient’s chart, searching for answers. All her vital signs were normal, she was in general good health, so what on earth could cause her to fall ill?

Small footsteps came closer and hands clasped his shoulders. “Doc, you need to go home. You were supposed to be gone already.”

“I know.” Gideon pinched the bridge of his nose as he reached up to pat Janet’s hand. “Mrs. Arrington’s case is bothering me. We can’t figure out what’s wrong with her.”

“It’s not your job to find that out. Only to help her get better. Besides, she’s seeing a specialist on Saturday.”

Gideon sighed a loud. “Yes, but… ugh. I hate that I can’t find out why she’s sick. Not having answers for her or her husband bothers me.”

“Well, I’m sure it does, but Gideon, you’re only one doctor. A damn good one, but even the best don’t have all the solutions. You’ve been working sixteen hours straight for the last five days. The next three you’re off.”

“I should be here with that specialist. Maybe I’ll ask them to let me come in instead of the resident.”

“No, no, Gideon. Doctor Shelby will take good care of the Arringtons along with Dr. Mancy. You need sleep.”

Although Janet was right, Gideon couldn’t help the guilt rising in his heart. He was however one of the top medics in the hospital. Why shouldn’t he know the cause of Mrs. Arrington’s illness?

  “Gideon?”

“Yes, it’s true. I’m having the hardest time keeping my eyes open.” Gideon turned to face her and took both her hands into his. “Thanks for the pep talk. By the way, when are you due?”

“Oh, not for another six weeks. My last shifts will be next Tuesday and Wednesday. The doc says I need to stay off my feet because I might have pre-pregnancy diabetes.”

“Oh yeah, that’s serious. It’s the right move for you to be on maternity leave then.”

“Yes, it is. I wouldn’t want little Gideon to be in danger.” Janet smiled at him.

Gideon grinned and leaned back in the chair. “You’re still naming your child after me?”

“Yes. I told you I would and I’m not changing my mind. You saved my life. If it weren’t for you, I might not be here, or have gotten married to Rosalda.”

“Yes, you would’ve. What I did wasn’t a huge feat.”

“It was. If you hadn’t talked me out of downing those painkillers, I would’ve been a goner. Now it’s my turn to repay you and one part of that is making sure, mi otro amor, gets the sleep he needs. If I weren’t pregnant, I’d drag you out.”

Gideon released her hands then held his up in surrender. “Okay, okay. I’m leaving. I’ll walk out with you.” He rose from his office chair and slid it under the desk.

“Good. Let me grab your food so you can take it home. I’ll meet you at the exit.” Janet strolled out the door without a second glance.

“Yes ma’am.” Gideon picked up the tablet with Mrs. Arrington’s chart loaded. He turned it off, then grabbed his saddlebag on the floor, sliding the tablet inside.

After tidying up the other papers on his desk, Gideon locked it, then removed his lab coat. He hung it over the chair then affixed his bag over his shoulder. On his way to the door, he stopped and glanced at his empty desk and sighed.

I still have work to do.

Gideon berated himself. Despite the strong desire to look at his patient’s chart, he needed to go home. If he waited any longer, he might be too sleepy to drive.

Although he enjoyed the days off, he always felt guilty about taking them. Ever since Gideon was little, all he’d ever wanted to be was a doctor. He’d set goals to ace his classes and graduate with honors which led to many scholarships. With so much good fortune, he was able to attend college, leaving much of the debt behind. And though he didn’t have the same luck with graduate school, at age thirty, he was close to paying back his student loans, something he’d promised to take care of a lot sooner than later.

  That determination fueled
him to become the best doctor at St. Emansion General in Los Angeles. The best medics worked long hours, wracking their brains over cases and helping the sick become well. Since one of his patients couldn’t go home, why should Gideon be allowed to leave?

Gideon constantly dealt with this guilt, especially when he was faced with a problem he couldn’t solve. Although he knew his sticking around wouldn’t suddenly make Mrs. Arrington better, Gideon still felt responsible for her condition.

  “Gideon?”

“Coming.” He said, finally closing the door behind him.

“Amor, ven aca.” Janet scolding voice reached his ears.

“Yes, ma’am.” Gideon adjusted his bag and walked quicker to keep up with her. Both he and Janet waved to the night crew as they headed out.

“Do you need a lift?” Gideon asked. He wondered should he get a ride share because his eyes felt like weights were forcing them down.

“No, mi amor. Rosalda is on her way. I can’t drive in my condition, so I let her keep the car.”

“Oh, all right. I wish you would’ve let me know then I could’ve drove you.”

Janet chuckled. “Well, part of the reason I didn’t is because you were supposed to be gone.” She grasped his bicep.

Gideon blew out a breath. “It’s true. I was so into Mrs. Arrington’s report, and then there was the O’Marins…”

“I know, and you’re doing a great job with both. The question is, do you need a ride? I worry about you falling asleep at the wheel.”

“No, I’m fine. Besides, I live out of the way. You and Rosalda need to get home as soon as possible so you can rest.”

“You live ten minutes in the other direction, doc. It wouldn’t be any trouble.” Just as Janet finished talking, a black four door pulled up.

“No, I’ll be fine. I’ll stop for coffee.” Gideon waved at Rosalda and held the door open for Janet.

“Ugh. All right. I would say go back in and grab a cup, but knowing you, you’ll find a reason to go into your office.” She eased down into the seat.
