Prologue

Three years ago…
My triceps are burning mid-pushup on my apartment floor when an unfamiliar blue car rolling into the Savage Asylum catches my eye on one of the security cameras. Since the bar is still closed and everyone’s out but me and Torin, our Savage Kings MC president, I guess I better go answer the door.
Getting to my feet, I grab a plain white tee from the clean laundry pile and pull it on while I wait to see who climbs out of the car, trying to decide whether or not our guest needs to be greeted with just my fists or some heavier artillery.
A tall redhead with legs a mile long and big tits climbs out of the driver seat. I relax a little since I have a pretty good idea why she’s here. Slipping my arms through my leather cut, I head up the stairs unarmed, other than my Glock that’s always tucked in my ankle holster.
The light pouring into the dark bar when I first open the door is blinding. How long has it been since I’ve even seen the sun? A few days? Weeks? I don’t like to leave the comfort and safety of my basement.
The first
thing I notice when my eyes finally adjust to the brightness is the woman’s pretty red lips parting on a little gasp of surprise when we suddenly come face to face. Her knuckles are even still raised, poised to knock. Her porcelain skin is beautiful and flawless, but the most stunning thing about her is the way the sun seems to give her red waves an ethereal glow.
And yeah, I’m a man, so I steal a quick glance at her amazing rack before I lift my gaze back up to her sunglass-covered eyes.
“Let me guess, you’re here for Abe?” I ask her with a heavy sigh. I mean, I get that the dude has a thing for banging gingers and all, but it would be great if Abe didn’t keep snatching up every single one of them he sees. I’ve never been a fan of sharing, but this hot little honey could maybe change my mind.
“Ah, who?” she asks with her brow furrowing over her sunglasses.
“Abe Cross,” I repeat. “Big, tall guy with a black beard? He’s out right now, but you can wait for him if you want.”
“No, I’m not here for Abe,” she replies with a shake of her head. “I’m actually looking for Reece. Is he around?”
No shit? She’s here for me?
“Why? What do you want with Reece?” I ask, becoming increasingly paranoid since it’s obvious she doesn’t know she’s currently talking to him. Did someone send her? Is she a cop? Is this a set up?
Before I can freak out any further, she answers me.
“Vicky, a girl I work with, told me that he’s good with computers and, um, could be discreet. I sort of need to ask him for a favor.”
Oh, she wants a favor. I should’ve known she wasn’t knocking on the door with the intention of screwing me over. Not every woman is the one I thought I was going to be with for the rest of my life.
“I’m Reece,” I finally admit to her, crossing my arms over my chest, ready to hear what she’s after.
“Oh, good,” she says with a brilliant smile, like I’m her new knight in shining armor riding to her rescue.
“So? What exactly is it that you need from me?” I huff impatiently.
Biting on her bottom lip, she finally removes the dark sunglasses and hits me with the full force of her hopeful, emerald eyes, the inner corners of which are rimmed with fading bruises that I instantly recognize as the remnants of recent black eyes. “Will you help me disappear?”
Chapter One

Present day…
For what must be the tenth time today, I have to reach up and claw at the hairs prickling on the back of my neck. After the third time it happened, I even went down the hall to ask Miles to check and make sure there wasn’t a goddamn spider or some shit crawling around under my shirt. He assured me there was nothing there, with a look that said he thought I was acting nuts.
Now it’s happening again, and I’m about to lose my fucking mind.
My fingernails are digging into my skin when I see War on the security footage riding into the parking lot with a girl on the back of his bike. I have to say I’m surprised to see it’s his sister and not his old lady when she pulls off her helmet. Guess he’s finally making amends with Maddox, who is probably on his way here with Torin and Chase. I’m glad shit turned out okay for the two young lovers…
And then that’s when it hits me, the reason why my Spidey senses have been tingling all damn day.
Cynthia isn’t here with the other women, helping set up for Maddox’s surprise party.
It’s the first time I can remember the redhead not coming by on a big event day since she stepped through the door almost three years ago.
Then, I try to recall the last time I did see her at the clubhouse, and…I can’t remember.
Good thing I have months’ worth of surveillance footage that will answer that question for me.
It takes half an hour, but I finally find her on the playback.
Cynthia has been MIA from the clubhouse for two weeks, ever since the toy drive fundraiser during the MMA fight. I don’t remember anything going down that night that would’ve had her too pissed to come back. Other than Knox beating up a guy in the second round, there wasn’t really anything else remarkable about the night.
Oh, except for Dalton flaunting his new woman, who just so happens to also be an ATF agent, in front of everyone.
Is that why Cynthia disappeared? She’s jealous that another one of the men she screwed around with is settling down? I thought if anything drove her away it would’ve been last year when Abe, her regular weekend hookup, met Mercy and got hitched. But she didn’t. Cynthia kept coming back.
Until now.
The next time I glance back over to the wall of video screens broadcasting in real time I see Maddox has already made his entrance for his patching in party. I was so caught up tracking down an absentee club girl I completely missed it.
Jesus, I need to pull my head out of my ass.
Or at least go congratulate him. While I’m up there, I can ask Dalton about the last time he saw Cynthia.
By the time I step out into the hallway, I see the back of Maddox’s cut that’s now decorated with the bearded skull king as he turns to talk to his girl, War’s sister. I’m proud of the kid for finally becoming one of us. He deserves it.
“And I can’t wait another second to strip you naked and lick you from–”
“Just the man I was coming to see!” I say, interrupting him from finishing that naughty promise to his girl.
The kid turns to me with a smirk on his face. “You don’t have cameras hidden in the apartments, do you?”
Scoffing at the implication that I’m a peeping Tom, I tell him, “No, and it’s not my fault if people decide to fuck in public places where my security cameras just so happen to be located.” Glancing at War’s sister, I hold out my hand and say, “Speaking of which, hello, Audrey. Nice to finally meet you in person.”
Her dark eyebrows lift in confusion when she shakes my hand since she has no clue who I am.
“Reece handles the club’s IT shit and he monitors the club’s, um, perimeter,” Maddox explains to her.
“Oh, it’s nice to meet you too,” Audrey replies with a smile that quickly falls. “Ohhh,” she adds, having worked out that I just so happened to see them screwing in the alley a few weeks ago.
“Go find your own woman to do dirty things with instead of watching other people, old man,” Maddox suggests to me with a good-natured grin before he pulls Audrey away and into his old apartment. As the door shuts, I hear Audrey say, “He watched us?” before I take off up the steps in search of Dalton.
It only takes me a minute to spot what looks like beautiful blonde Siamese twins sucking face. Dalton’s ATF agent is practically riding him which, I admit, makes me see her as a little less tough and rigid than I first expected.
“Yo, Dalton,” I say when I’m in front of the duo. “Can you come up for air for a second?”
There must be something in the water; because while I could see some of the other guys settling down, it must have been some sort of spell to convince a playboy like Dalton to fall head over heels.
“What’s up?” the pretty boy looks up and asks without removing his hands from under his woman’s shirt.
For a second, I consider blurting out my question that would no doubt cause some friction between the two lovebirds.
“This is probably a discussion best held in private,” I tell him, nodding toward the stairs, which will give us some privacy.
