His hands slipped from her hips and eased under her shirt. His fingers skimmed along her ribs until he was cupping her breasts. Her nipples pebbled and her panties grew damp just from that slight contact. She rocked against him, his hard cock rubbing against her in the most delicious way. Summer leaned into his touch, feeling an almost frantic need to remove her clothes. She wanted his touch skin to skin and not through layers.

Vordro popped the front clasp on her bra as if reading her thoughts. His thumbs flicked over the hardened peaks, drawing a gasp from her lips. No one had touched her breasts intimately. Summer had always worried her parents would walk in on her if she tried to pleasure herself, so she’d never bothered. Now she wondered what she’d been missing out on.

His touch was light as he teased and tormented, making her need grow. Summer’s hands explored what she could reach of his body, wanting to give him as much pleasure as he was giving her. She continued to rock against him, her panties getting wetter by the minute. Her heart felt like it was going to pound out of her chest. Vordro’s eyes were darker and intense as she gazed into them.

One of his hands slipped down her body and teasingly traced the waistband of her pants. A moment later, he had them unbuttoned and unzipped, leaving Summer breathless as she thought about what was going to happen next. Her clothes felt too tight, and she wanted them off. Drawing away from him, she stripped out of her clothing, leaving it in a pile on the floor. Vordro’s lips parted as his gaze caressed her from head to toe.

“You’re trying to kill me,” he said, his voice a soft growl.

Summer licked her lips. “I told you that I wanted you. You’re the one who’s holding back.”

Vordro stood and lifted her into his arms. He carried her down the hall to his bedroom and pushed the door open with his foot. His bed was perfectly made until he eased her onto the mattress and mussed the comforter. She watched with a building hunger as he removed his clothes. Her cheeks burned, having never seen a naked man up close before, but she licked her lips as his cock bobbed in the most enticing way. He looked far too large to fit inside her, but she trusted him. If Vordro thought they would fit together, then she knew they would.

He knelt beside the bed, pulling her closer, her legs splayed on either side of him. No one had ever looked at her there before, except her doctor, and she was a little embarrassed. How did she compare to the other women he’d been with? His finger reached out and stroked her softly, making her want to spread her legs wider. When she felt a puff of his breath against her, she gasped and leaned up on her elbows.

“So soft and pretty,” he said. “And no hair? I like it.”

“I shave it off. It bothers me.”

He leaned closer, and she froze.

“Wh-what are you doing?” she asked.

“I’m going to taste you, and I’m going to make you scream my name.”

She was already close to doing that.

“Do you want me to stop?” he asked.

  “No.”

Summer flopped back onto the bed and tried to relax. Vordro’s tongue traced the seam of her pussy before delving inside. Summer whimpered and gripped the comforter as he licked and sucked, driving her need higher and higher. When he drew her clit into his mouth, she nearly cried out from the sheer pleasure. It washed over her in waves until she was practically riding his face, chasing after… something. She’d never felt anything so incredible in her life.

Vordro spread her pussy open wider, and his sucking grew more intense until she was crying out his name and bucking beneath him. She saw stars and nearly forgot to breathe as her first orgasm ripped through her, leaving her boneless. Vordro placed a kiss on her pussy, then her hip, and her belly. He stood and stared down at her, a drop of cum leaking from the head of his cock.

“Do you still want me or are you satisfied for now?” he asked.

She couldn’t tell what answer he was hoping for. If she said she wanted more, would he give it to her out of a sense of duty? Or did he truly want her? For all she knew, he would get hard with any naked woman lying in his bed.

“I want you,” she said, knowing that if Vordro was her first, she would remember it forever. She only wished she could make him her only.

Vordro covered her body with his, the head of his cock rubbing against her pussy. Summer hooked her legs around his hips, giving him complete access to her body. She wanted him. From what she’d read, it was going to hurt, but being with Vordro would be worth a little pain.

He kissed her, and she tasted herself on his lips. Then his hips shifted, and she felt his cock ease inside of her. It burned as she stretched to accommodate him, and then he stilled. As he gazed down at her, there was an apology in his eyes as he thrust forward and claimed her innocence, making her cry out more in surprise than pain. It hurt, but nothing like what she’d expected.

As the ache dulled, she tried to urge him to move. His thrusts were shallow and slow, and then deeper. Nothing could have ever prepared her for the incredible feeling of having him inside of her. Vordro took his time, drawing out her pleasure until she thought she couldn’t take another moment of it. He reached between their bodies and brushed his thumb over her clit.

Summer made a keening sound as she came a second time. As her release washed over her, Vordro pounded into her, taking her hard and fast until he found his own release. He didn’t pull out of her right away, instead rolling them so she lay on top. She could feel his heart beating almost in time with hers, and she pressed kisses to his chest, jaw, and then his lips.

“I wanted to make it special for you,” he said. “I didn’t hurt you too much?”

“It was perfect,” she said. “Thank you, Vordro. I’m so glad you were my first.”

He muttered something she didn’t catch, and she sighed with a happiness she’d never felt before. If only it could last… if only this was the beginning.

  Chapter Six

The next morning, Vordro stared up at the ceiling as Summer slept on his chest. He’d taken her bare, not even asking if she was on birth control, not that it always worked when it came to Zelthranite sperm. Even condoms weren’t foolproof. If she were pregnant… but would she tell him if she were? Or would she try to hide it and run from him? He hadn’t exactly given her a reason to stay. He’d offered her pleasure, but nothing permanent. Had that been a mistake?

He was due at the Terran Station in an hour, but for once, he didn’t want to go. He picked up the cell phone on his bedside table and sent a message to one of the guards at the station, asking them to cover his shift. In all the years he’d been on Earth, he’d never taken a day off unless he was scheduled for one. But today of all days seemed like a good time to stay home. He didn’t know what to expect from Summer when she woke. Would she be clingy? Would she act like nothing had happened?

Not knowing what she wanted was hell. Did she want him to claim her? The last thing Vordro wanted to do was scare her off. He’d tried to take things slow, to give her time, but she hadn’t wanted that. She’d wanted him. He smiled a little as he thought about her forwardness last night. It had taken him by surprise but in the best of ways. Now that she was in his bed, he’d like to keep her there. He could always ask if she’d stay in his room with him. Or should he go with his warrior’s instincts and demand what he wanted?

Human females had been a puzzle since the first time he’d met one. They were all different, and not just in coloring but in temperament and desires. His people weren’t all identical either, but the female Zelthranites tended to have similar temperaments. Of course, now the females of his world were dying out. All future females would be a hybrid of Zelthranite genes and whatever female the males paired off with. It had been a sad time for his world, but Vordro liked the human females and couldn’t wait to claim one as his mate. He’d just never found the right one. They were pretty, but he’d never felt this consuming need to claim one until now.

He hoped it would be Summer.

  Summer shifted and
rolled off him, giving him the freedom to move. He rolled onto his side to watch her sleep for a few minutes and then got up to shower and get dressed. He closed the bathroom door so the sound of the water wouldn’t disturb her sleep, then turned on the shower. Not having a plan for the day, he didn’t know what to expect. He hoped Summer would be happy that he’d taken the day off, and thought they could explore the town a little, maybe go see the sights.

After his shower, he pulled on a pair of black leather pants and a black T-shirt. If there was a chill in the air he’d get out his jacket, but his kind didn’t get cold as easily as humans did. Vordro brushed out his hair and dried it with a hairdryer. He didn’t use one except in the morning, preferring to let his hair dry naturally, but it took forever.

By the time he finished and exited the bathroom, Summer was sitting up in bed rubbing her eyes sleepily. He smiled, thinking she looked too damn adorable for words, and then he walked across the room and sat on the edge of the bed.

“Is it time for you to leave for work?” she asked.

  “I took the day off.”

Her eyes widened in surprise. “Day off?”

“I thought we could go do something. If you’re up for it, we could grab some breakfast out somewhere and then maybe see a museum or the zoo? We can do more than one thing. Whatever you want.”

“I haven’t been to either the Natural History Museum or the zoo in a long time. Either would be amazing. Are you sure you won’t get in trouble for taking time off?” she asked.

“I’m positive. In fact, I may take off tomorrow too.”

Her mouth dropped open, and she seemed surprised, as if no one had ever done something like for her before. Was it really that shocking that he’d want to spend time with her? Or maybe she’d thought last night was a one-night stand. Whatever the case, he was going to prove to her that he could be an attentive mate if she’d give him a chance.

“So, why don’t you shower and get ready,” he said. “I’ll wait for you in the living room.”

He could feel her gaze on his back as he went to sit on the couch. He flicked on the TV and watched a movie to pass the time. When Summer stepped into the room, she was wearing jeans and a soft-looking sweater that molded to her curves. It was almost enough to make him ditch his idea of going out and instead spend the day in bed with her. She gave him a tentative smile as he stood and moved closer, leaning down to kiss her cheek.

  “You look beautiful,” he said.

“Thank you. Are we really going out?”

He nodded and ushered her out the door. Not knowing her preference for breakfast, he chose a restaurant that carried a little bit of everything. They had Southern-style food, traditional breakfast, and even some international choices. It was crowded, but not badly enough that they had to wait for a table. As was true with anywhere he went, there were a few people who stared. His kind had been on Earth for years, and still, they were treated like some exotic species whenever they went out in public.

It didn’t seem to bother Summer, though, as she settled into the booth across from him. The waitress left menus with them and took their drink order, then hurried off. Left to peruse the breakfast choices, he found himself watching Summer more than looking at the menu. The sun streamed through the window, making red and gold highlights appear in her brown hair.

“What?” she asked, catching him staring.

“Just thinking about how beautiful you are.”

Her cheeks warmed, and she smiled a little before looking back at her menu. When the waitress returned with their drinks, they placed their order. Vordro had ordered everything on the menu at some point, but his favorite was the sampler that came with three eggs, a ham steak, sausage links, three strips of bacon, grits, and hash browns. Summer’s order seemed small in comparison, but she assured him it was plenty of food.

“What would you like to do today?” he asked as they waited for their food.

“It’s hard to choose. What about the museum? I put my camera in my purse before we left so I can take pictures wherever we go.”

“What if I took another day off tomorrow and we have another outing?”

“You’re sure you won’t get into trouble? You aren’t just telling me it’s okay but really you’ll get written up?” she asked.

Honestly, Vordro would probably be reprimanded for taking off on such short notice, but it wasn’t like he would lose his position. He was a revered warrior on his world. He’d seen his share of battles, had even become a prisoner of some nasty space pirates at one point. What was that human term? Hero. Yes, his people considered him a hero. The last thing his council would do was remove him from his position. He just needed to explain why he wanted the time off. If they knew he was courting a female, they would be more lenient.

“I’ll call them later and make sure it’s arranged. It shouldn’t be a problem.”

Unless the council member specifically requested his presence. Then it could be an issue, but Vordro didn’t think that was likely.

After breakfast, they drove over to the Natural History Museum. Vordro had never been, even though he’d studied human history before moving to Earth. Seeing everything through Summer’s eyes would be different, though. He paid for their admission, noting that he could get a membership for them if she decided to become his mate.

Vordro found the exhibit about early humans to be fascinating. There were skeleton copies from the first known humanoid all the way to present-day humans. Summer stopped to read each plaque and took pictures along the way. When they reached the wildlife exhibit, her eyes teared a little as she read the word “eliminated” on many of the exhibits.

“You don’t like this part of the museum?” he asked.

“These animals used to live in the wild. Thanks to humans, they no longer have homes. Some have become extinct, and others are only alive thanks to zoos and wildlife sanctuaries. It’s sad that we’ve lost so much beauty because of our greed.”

He studied the stuffed creatures. “If you have DNA samples from the animals, why can’t you recreate them?”

“Our scientists have made great strides in doing something like that, but there are a lot of animals that are lost to us forever. I’ve always preferred animals over people, so I guess it bothers me more than it does most people.”

He nodded. After dealing with some unsavory humans, he could see where she might prefer the furry beasts. And yet, she didn’t have a pet. Would she want one? He’d have to ask her about it later. If Summer wanted something, he intended to get it for her. While he’d never felt the need to own a living being, he understood having pets was a common practice for humans.

They moved on to more exhibits and Summer took more pictures, even a few with him. Then she dragged him over to a large gemstone display and asked a passing couple to take a picture of them together. He curled his arm around her waist and drew her close to his side and waited for the flash on her camera to go off. Was this what being a couple would be like?

Summer thanked the couple and took her camera back before taking him by the hand and tugging him toward yet another exhibit. He found the dinosaurs to be interesting and remembered a movie where someone had brought them back to life. Seeing the lifelike displays made him glad no one had actually pulled that one off. They looked fierce and had more teeth than he was comfortable with.

As they went through the last of the exhibits, Summer looked a little wistful.

“Did you have a nice time?” he asked.

“Yes, I just wish I could come back soon. I love this place. I think I’d come here every week if I could.”

He led her over to the membership office, deciding to take a chance on her agreeing to become his mate at a later date. He inquired about the family plan, but since they didn’t have children, the woman recommended purchasing two individual plans, which was actually cheaper. Vordro paid for the memberships, and Summer hugged him tight.

“Thank you,” she said. “No one has ever done anything l
ike this for me before.”

“I want you to be happy, Summer. If coming here every week accomplishes that goal, then I want to make sure you can do it. And on the days I’m off, I’ll come with you.”

She hugged him again before they went out to the parking lot. Several hours had passed, and Vordro was more than ready for lunch. He assumed Summer would be hungry as well. Wanting to treat her to a nice meal, he took her to Pesto’s for pasta and seafood. Having missed the lunch hour rush, the place was nearly empty. Vordro requested a table near the window.

Summer opened her menu, and her jaw dropped. “We can’t eat here.”

“Are you allergic to something on the menu?”

  “Yes. The prices.”

He laughed and set his menu aside. “I wouldn’t have brought you here if I couldn’t afford it. Order whatever you’d like. If you can’t decide, order two things. I want you to enjoy our day out, Summer.”

“But everything costs so much,” she said.

“Summer, stop looking at the prices and focus on the menu items. I don’t care if you order the most expensive thing on the menu. I just want you to enjoy yourself. All right?”

  She nodded.

“So, now I know you love museums. What else do you like to do?”

“Well, I’ve never been to an amusement park before. I’ve been to the zoo a few times and really liked it. I’d love to go to Washington D.C. sometime and see the Smithsonian. Or maybe go to the beach. I’ve never seen the ocean before.”

She’d never seen the ocean? The beach was roughly two hours away, and there was no reason she shouldn’t have gone. Except for money. It bothered him that she’d struggled so much she’d never been able to see the beach or go to the museum whenever she wanted. He decided he was going to make sure all her wishes came true, even if it meant taking a full week off from work. It would be worth it just to see her smile, and it wasn’t like he would miss the money. While the humans who worked at the Terran Station earned vacation time, it wasn’t a common practice for the Zelthranites who worked there.
