“Oh you’re going to call your daddy to teach me a lesson, is that it?”

I gave him a cold smile and leaned even closer to get in his face. “I can kick your ass just fine, but having my dad as the sheriff does mean I have perks.”

That wasn’t necessarily true, but based on my dad’s face earlier I thought in this case I might just be right.

“All right and the star bachelor of the night, Jasper King! Get your fine ass on up here! I’m not getting any younger.”

Corny’s announcement was met with laughter and I held up my hands good-naturedly as I called out, “I’m coming, I’m coming! Had to keep up with all these amazing people here tonight.”

More cheers from the crowd met that statement and I made my way through the sea of people to jump up on the stage beside Corny.

“Now Jasper here is quite a catch ladies and gentlemen! He likes long walks along the boardwalk, winning those insanely priced stuffed animals in those claw machines, and, rumor has it, there is quite a bit of junk packed away here waiting for you! You might even say, King me.” The lascivious wink and grin was met with wild laughter and a few heated glances to my kingly junk I had packed away. Only Corny could get away with saying that, but at least this is for a good cause. I held out my arms and gave the audience a grin, turning so they could take in my work clothes for tonight: a black henley shirt, dark wash jeans, and red chucks. Not too dressy, but at least nothing had stains on it.

“All right, bidding starts at $100!”

A guy in the back held up his number card, but I couldn’t really make out his face.

“Okay we’ve got $100. Do we have $105?”

“We have $105, how about $110?”

As the bidding was going on around me my eyes caught Ezra’s in the back of the room beside the blond I saw him walk in here with earlier. Are they together? And he looks familiar, but for the life of me I can’t remember his name. The thought they might be together put some heat in my veins to rival the few shots of whiskey I’d had tonight as liquid courage after finding out about this prank which, giving credit where it was due, has gone down amazingly.

Maybe Ezra didn’t agree because his expression told me he wasn’t too happy right now about something. But that quickly turned into complete shock as I’m sure mine did when the blond beside him called out a bid over everyone else, “$500!”

Silence then whispers filled the air. Who the hell would pay $500 for a date?!

“Anyone else? All right, sold to the pain in the ass in the back.”

“Corny you know you love me!” Blondie yelled up to him, which Corny rolled his eyes at, but I saw the smile on his face all the same.

“We will take a break to tally up the proceeds being donated to—”

“Wait one minute! We have a last minute entry!” This was from Blondie again who Ezra was still staring at in shock.

Corny turned to face him again with one eyebrow lifted. “And who is this last minute entry?”

  “It’s Ezra, of course!”

I didn’t know who was more shocked by the declaration: Corny, Ezra, or myself.

  Ezra

Leo shoved me toward the stage, the crowd cheering him on. I contemplated all the ways I’d kill him later for this stunt. This wasn’t how my best friend was supposed to ‘help’ me. He kept talking about all this chemistry between Jasper and me, but we’d barely spoken more than a few words to each other.

My body tensed as I was deposited on stage next to Cornelius. He threw me a saucy wink before lifting the mic to his mouth. “All right, we now have Ezra Davis up here. He’s the Prince of Pastries, the Duke of Donuts, the Baron of Bagels! He’s also one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet! Bidding starts at $100!” My mouth fell open in shock as at least four people yelled out their bids simultaneously. Panic welled in my chest as I looked down at the crowd, several of the bidders looking at me with heated gazes. One older man even licked his lips, which sent a shiver of fear down my spine.

“$160!” Leo yelled, filling me with hope, but the bidding wasn’t anywhere near finished. I tried to ignore the back and forth, my eyes landing on Jasper. He was back behind the bar, but his attention was fully on me and my impending panic. I couldn’t see his features in the dim, shadowed light of the crowded bar, but the way his shoulders were tensed and his dishtowel was choked in his hand told me he was angry or upset.

Did this prank go too far?

That thought sent my spiral of worry even further, as the bids for me went up to over four hundred, each bid making my pulse pick up and my stomach to roll. I wasn’t one for being in the spotlight… or any social interaction outside of small events. I clenched and unclenched my fists at my side, my eyes scanning over the crowd again until I found Leo’s face. He lost his smile and now looked worried. I gave him a shaky smile, focusing on the feeling of my hands moving to keep me grounded.

“And we’re up to eight hundred!” Cornelius let out a loud whoop, the crowd going wild and pausing the bidding for a moment.

“One thousand!” a deep voice called from the bar. I turned back around, desperately searching for the source. Though if it wasn’t for my panic, I would have easily recognized that voice.

Jasper King just bid for me.

Not only did he bid for me, he was glaring around the room, just daring anyone to outvote him. One man started to, but a murmur went through the crowd, stopping him in his tracks. It was like the entire room was against me.

“We have 1k, going once! Going twice! Sold, to Mr. King!” Cornelius yelled. “Thank you folks for making tonight successful. Kat, how’d we do?”

“We made close to $2,500 for Second Chance!” she yelled, jumping up and down and squealing excitedly. The thought sent a wave of happiness through me before I realized where I was. Cornelius reached for me after another thanks to the crowd, gently leading me down the stage and through the crowd to the side door. The cool night air hit me and I slipped away to lean against the brick building, taking in deep breaths and letting my anxiety calm. I wasn’t usually this bad, but the adrenaline from the prank colliding with the crowd and being the center of attention did a number on my nerves.

“Hey. You alright?” Jasper’s voice startled me, but it could have been the fact he sounded so genuine and sweet that startled me more.

“Yes,” I mumbled, sliding to the ground, embarrassed that he was witnessing me be a complete loser. “No.”

“Looks like we’ve got a date to plan, what do you say we slip away? Talon and Jax can cover me,” he offered, extending his hand for me to take. I don’t know what possessed me to take it, but I let him pull me to my feet, but he didn't step back, meaning we were flush against each other, and my cock definitely took notice of the hard body touching mine.

I didn’t know what to say, my mind and body overwhelmed in that moment. “The prank was pretty good, right?” I rasped, the words sounding far more sensual than they should have.

Jasper didn’t answer right away, his lips parting as he looked down at my mouth. I was mesmerized as I watched his tongue flick out to wet his lips before he broke the silence. “Tell me you feel this.”

“Feel what?” I asked, trying to step back, but he only followed, pushing me against the wall and putting a hand on either side of my head, caging me in place. My pulse picked up again, but this time because lust coursed through me. In a move that shocked us both, I lunged at him, all thoughts falling away as I simply reacted. I pressed my lips against his, the kiss demanding and full of things I couldn’t process right now. He growled low, his body rumbling against mine as he met my assault with one of his own taking control of the kiss and causing my cock to twitch with need. I might not like Jasper, but my body certainly did.

“Ez?” Leo’s voice called out, startling me out of the lust haze as I shoved Jasper back, looking guiltily at my best friend. Worry gave way to shocked excitement as he took in what was happening. “Well, guess I was right. Have fun, boys!” With that, he saun
tered back inside and closed the door.

“Fuck, we’re locked out now. We’ll have to go around front,” Jasper said, pulling on the door despite his words and cursing again. He seemed unfazed by me shoving him away, which was fine by me. “Or we could go back to kissing?” Jasper joked, coming back over to push me back against the wall and claiming my lips again before I could protest.

My hips instinctively rocked against his, our erections rubbing against each other as we both sought the friction we desperately needed. I was far too aware of how long it had been since I’d had sex, my body practically begging his for release. His hands worked their way under the hem of my shirt, skimming along my waistband. A whimper escaped before I could stop it, but in the moment I didn’t care.

“Can I?” he whispered, dropping to his knees in front of me, his fingers resting on the button of my jeans. I couldn’t find words to answer him, instead nodding my head to consent. His eyes darkened as he quickly freed my erection, yanking my pants down to my knees.

He didn’t hesitate, his tongue licking me from base to tip before plunging his mouth over me in one swift go. He bobbed his head over me slowly, almost like he was savoring the taste of me. I let out a low moan as I rocked forward, the feeling of his warm, wet mouth moving over me had my whole body trembling with need. He felt amazing and clearly knew what he was doing, the beginning of an orgasm already building low in my stomach.

“Mmm,” he hummed around me, his hand jerking me off as he sucked just the tip, the other moving to my ass and pulling me into him, like he just couldn’t get enough. I was a mess of low moans and whimpers as he brought me to the edge, only to slow down until it ebbed away, just to bring me back to the edge again.

“Please, Jasper,” I whispered, my hands finding their way to his copper locks, giving a gentle tug. He rewarded me with another low growl, before pulling his mouth away and smirking up at me.

“Please, what? Tell me what you want,” he demanded, his voice holding a hint of authority that had a bead of precum leaking out of my swollen tip, my body so hard for him that it ached. I needed to come like I needed to breathe.

“Please let me come,” I begged, my cheeks heating at the suggestive words. I wasn’t used to being that kind of guy, or the kind of guy who would do this somewhere so public, but something about Jasper made all reason slip away.

“That’s all you had to say, Sweetheart,” he whispered, before wrapping his full lips around me. “Keep your eyes on me,” he demanded when I let my lids fall closed. I obeyed him without thought, locking my eyes onto those jade green orbs. I could practically feel the electricity between us as he brought me to the edge again, his eyes never leaving mine as my cock hit the back of his throat over and over again. Sensation flooded me as his tongue teased me along with each thrust. I’d never felt anything so amazing in my life.

“Fuck, Jasper,” I rasped, “I’m going to come.” I tried to warn him, but he merely pulled away long enough to smirk up at me then swallowed me back down. I cried out his name as I shot cum down his throat. My knees shook, but he was holding me up with both hands around my waist now, not once stopping his movement as he drank me down, prolonging my orgasm until I saw stars. I had never come so hard in my life.

In a completely surprising move, he pulled my boxers and jeans back up, tucking me back in and zipping them, before finally standing up. I tried to form words, but they failed me as my body and mind slowly came back to earth. I needed time to process it all and didn’t know how to bow out gracefully. I had that awkward moment of wondering if I should return the favor. He must have seen my panic because he smiled and took my hand, pulling me gently forward and linking my arm with his.

“Let me walk you home, we can discuss our date later,” he said gently, leading me toward my bakery without another word. Which wasn’t a bad thing because I wasn’t sure what words were at that moment.

A few seconds later we were in front of the bakery and I was confused why we weren’t going in. That’s when I remembered I had to unlock the door myself, duh. As I dug out the keys I frantically searched my mind for how to let Jasper know I needed space and time to unwind, process tonight. My shaking hands tried to put the key in the lock when his firm hand took the key, unlocked the door and lead me inside.

“Ezra. I just want to make sure you make it upstairs because you’re shaking like a leaf and you’re looking pale.” I looked up to find him watching me with a concerned expression taking in every inch of me.

“I just didn’t want you to think—”

He raised a hand to cut me off and gave me a small smile. “It’s been a big night with that surprise auction and all.”

His teasing surprised a laugh out of me and before I knew it, we were both doubled over from laughing so much.

“Yeah, well it seems Leo pranked us both since we both ended up being auctioned off,” I huffed with annoyance.

“Your blond friend you came in with, who bought a date with me?”

A growl slipped loose before I could hold it in, which made Jasper look at me closely letting a small, triumphant smile grace his full lips.

  “Are you jealous, Ezra?”

“Of course not. I already have a date with you since you won my auction.” Pausing, I started to pick at the invisible lint on my sweater. “Thanks for that, by the way. Some of the people…”

Jasper’s dry voice interrupted me, “All of the people were going crazy to get that date with you.”

I shrugged uncomfortably at the memory of the old man licking his lips while bidding. “I don’t know why they would do that. I mean… I’m just me.”

A hand on my chin gently tilted my face up to look at Jasper, and his eyes searched my face. He seemed surprised at what he found there. “It’s because you’re hot, Ez. And if I do say so, you play a pretty mean prank war.”

I didn’t know what to say so I managed to stay quiet and Jasper considered me for another moment before leaning down to brush his lips against mine, in a barely there kiss.

“Truce on the prank war, at least until after our date?”

“I think I can manage that. Truce.”

Another soft kiss then he dropped my chin and stepped back. With one last look my way, he walked toward the counter and grabbed a pen and a pad of paper from next to the register, quickly jotting something down. My curiosity piqued as he walked back to me with the paper in his hand, excitement bloomed in my chest when I saw he had written down his phone number. Yes!

“So we can plan our date,” Jasper explained. “Now I was serious before. Lock up after I leave, but I’m staying outside until you text me you’re good in the apartment. And I know it’s right upstairs, but you still don’t look calmed down completely.”

I nodded in agreement and walked him toward the front doors. As I went to lock the door after he was outside, he turned and pointed a finger at me.

“If you don’t text me in three minutes, I’ll have my father come over and do a welfare check.”

I let out a full laugh at that and smiled. “I’ll text you. Scout’s honor.”

“You were never a scout were you?” He gave me a smirk.

“Nope.” I gave him a wicked smile, all of his teasing had put me at ease. With one last heated look his way, I locked the glass doors between us. I could feel the weight of his gaze the entire time I walked up to my apartment.

I took my shoes off as soon as I got into my living room, groaning in relief to be home and away from the insanity of today. Not only did I get sucked into the bachelor auction, I had a date with Jasper King. The man who just gave me a blow job in the back alley behind his bar. What the hell is going on with my life? Things like this don’t happen to me.

Thinking of Jasper, I realized I still needed to send him that text or risk a welfare check from the sheriff. The hot sheriff of Echo Bay. I considered if it would be worth it then decided that this time at least, I would just text him since I’d have to see him for a date some point soon.

Ezra: I’m safely up in my apartment.

Jasper: That was four minutes. But I’ll let it slip this time.

Jasper: By the way… you taste amazing

I let out a grin at the flirty text and flopped back on the couch. I’m so screwed.

  Jasper

Ezra: You aren’t serious about a hot air balloon ride date are you? Because I don’t do heights.

I grinned so much my cheeks hurt when I read his most recent text. The prank war might have a truce, but teasing him about our surprise date was maybe even more fun.

  “Someone has it bad.”

I whipped my head up at the amused voice to see none other than Ezra’s friend, Leo, whose winning bid won my date at the auction. It had been a few days since the auction and I hadn’t seen him around since then.

“You are texting Ezra, right? Because if you hurt him, I’ll make sure you regret it.” The levity was gone from his voice as he made that threat and I saw the hard glint in his eyes as he took me in.

Turning my phone around I showed him the message I was looking at and seeing it was his friend his stance softened slightly. Leo settled into the bar stool beside me and we both looked each other over trying to figure out what the other was doing, I assumed. Leo was similar in build to Ezra, but taller. Where Ezra was dark and fair, Leo was blond and tan. I was curious about how they met being such opposites in appearance and personality, from what I’d seen.

When he didn’t break the silence I shifted to lean back.

“So, are you here to plan the date you won?”

Luckily the bar was empty at this hour, besides myself and Jax, who was in the back doing inventory before the holidays delayed shipments.

“Actually yeah, this is my lunch hour, so I figured we could plan something and I’ll see if I can get the day off from Pops’ place. I have a few ideas of what we could do.”
