The Society of Orion
From Books One through Seven
When Colton Banyon first discovers the very secret Society of Orion he thinks that the weapons the legendary Greek half-God half-man Orion left behind were simply artifacts to be protected. He soon finds out that most of the trinkets have unique uses that are made possible from the ultimate power source — Vril. He then learns that some of the weapons are not devices, but are genuine supernatural weapons that had been collected by Orion’s father Poseidon from the sea.
Once he decides to collect the weapons, he finds the Orion Codex. An ancient book that recaps the true adventures of Orion and who the Greek God was really battling thousands of years ago. They were the original inhabitants of Earth and they are planning to come back to live here very soon.
The race to collect all the weapons takes the Forever Ours team across the world. They are joined by the ultra-secret SIM team and eventually gather all the weapons. But, is it too late?
The invasion by the Sumi has begun. People are dying by the thousands and the governments of the world are struggling to mass a counterstrike. Colton Banyon is right in the middle. Is he the new Orion? Can he save earth?
Part One
The King
Chapter One
The night was eerily dark. The guard stared into the distance and decided that he could not tell where the sea met the sky. There was no horizon. Millions of stars twinkled overhead and the quarter-moon reflected a ribbon of light across the calm waters of the sea, but that was the only thing he could see. There was no noise and no movement. Everything was unclear. He thought about his life and future. It was also unclear.
He had been guarding the entrance to the cave for over six hours now — six quiet and lonely hours with nothing to do but think. His assigned position was halfway up a small arid hill at the cave entrance. It overlooked most of the tiny island of Avsa, in the middle of the Marmara Sea near Turkey. What will happen to me? What will happen to my family? Will I ever see them again?
The guard, whose name was Bezo, was part of the small four man advance party sent to earth with the King of Maltos, Anax Yuk. Their responsibility was to coordinate the communications and direct the migration of his people to Earth. The Sumi already on the ground could not directly communicate with the starships. Their devices were not powerful enough. Everything had to be funneled through the control room transmitters. The King wanted to lead from the ground.
Bezo was actually an expert on the maintenance of the transmitters, but had been recently ordered to guard the entrance to the secret control room in the cave. The demand had come from Mongo the protection warrior. It was not part of the original plan and that worried Bezo. Why was I sent out here?
He realized that ever since the people of Maltos had voted to migrate to Earth, the plan had been terribly corrupted. He knew the Sumi were a logical people and they disliked change, especially when it was bad. He considered what had gone wrong.
First of all was the fact that he and many others were conscripted into the invasion force. The people conscripted had all voted against the migration. They were given no choice. To ensure that the drafted men complied, their families were rounded up and sequestered in government camps around Maltos. They were told that if they failed to cooperate, their families would be put to death. Furthermore, if they were to die, the younger Sumi warriors would be able to take their wives as their own. It was a powerful incentive to follow orders and survive.
Also, while they were loading the huge starships, Bezo noticed that many of the devices used for building were enlarged and redesigned for use as offensive weapons. Why did we do that?
Finally there were the dreaded Sumi warriors. They were originally trained as protection for the Sumi who were being sent to build new cities, but several starships contained only warriors. It had all been ordered by the fanatical head of security, Erox.
Something is not right, he realized. I don’t even have a communication device to use to warn the others if someone approached. Mongo wants me out of the way and I think I know why.
Suddenly, Bezo came alert when he heard a noise. He reached for a weapon, but realized that he had not been provided one.
Chapter Two
Carol Cole punched her brother Kerry in the arm. It was for making the noise which alerted the Sumi guard that someone was near. He had hit a rock with his foot on the semi-arid desert hill and fell to the ground while attempting to close in on the giant guard. She thought that he had been hit with some sort of weapon, but when she reached him she discovered that he was only clumsy. The guard was now searching the ground with his eyes to find them.
“Go,” Colonel Gerald Cole yelled into their earpieces.
A bright light from a powerful flashlight was suddenly directed at the face of the tall blue guard. It blinded him. He threw up his arms to protect his eyes, just as was planned.
Four men and two women quickly rose from their positions near the cave and raced to engage the guard. Three people, Pramilla, Maya, and Previne, targeted him with their silenced laser-guided machine guns, but did not fire. They wanted to capture the guard. He didn’t wear armor, so they knew that he wasn’t a fanatical warrior.
Before the guard could recover he heard a voice that told him to get on the ground on his stomach. The bright light was still in his eyes so when he tried to see who was talking to him in his language, all he saw was another Sumi in full battle dress. He immediately complied.
Loni reached the guard first and fired her Taser into the middle of his back. Eric arrived a few seconds later and let loose with his weapon. The Sumi guard began convulsing uncontrollably on the ground. When they turned off their weapons, the rest of the team had already cuffed him and tied his legs together. A gag was inserted into his mouth. He was then turned over and sat up against the rocks.
Colton Banyon soon entered the cave area carrying the powerful flashlight. He kept it pointed at the guard and could see that he was very frightened. Gunny Joe dressed in his Sumi warrior outfit stood over him with a mean look on his face.
Gunny Joe grabbed
the flashlight and held it high in the air. The light flooded the cave area like it was coming from a streetlamp. The Sumi’s eyes went wide when he saw all the non-blues standing around him. He had been told that they would kill him on sight.
Gunny Joe wore the Sumi Speak device. It allowed him to talk and also to understand their language. He shot out some words that sounded like chalk rubbing across a blackboard. The sound made the rest of Banyon’s team wince.
“We are not here to kill you,” Gunny Joe uttered. “We only seek some information and to have a conversation with your King. I will take off the gag if you promise to not scream.”
Bezo nodded his head in agreement. Loni stepped forward and removed the gag.
“You must hurry,” Bezo said. “I am loyal to my King. I fear that he is in jeopardy. The warrior Mango intends to eliminate him.”
“Then help us stop him,” Gunny Joe responded.
The Sumi nodded his head.
Chapter Three
“What did he say?” Loni quickly asked. She was always the most impatient of the team members.
“He believes that the King is in trouble. He believes that a Sumi warrior named Mongo wants to kill the King,” Gunny Joe explained.
“Then this nut-job Erox would become the new leader of the Sumi,” Banyon reasoned. “He wants to take over this planet by force. We need to disrupt his plan.”
“Ask him if there are any other Sumi between us and the control room,” Colonel Cole ordered.
After a brief conversation, Gunny Joe said that the way was clear. There were only three Sumi in the cave and they were all in the control room. This agreed with what Wolf had told Banyon only seconds before he had joined the group.
“Take him inside,” Banyon said. “We need to find a place for Carol to set up.”
The ten member team and the Sumi headed into the dark cave. The Sumi made no attempt to break free and seemed to cooperate especially since three people kept their guns trained on him.
The inside of the cave was much like the depository the team had explored in Ecuador. The Sumi were creatures of habit and rarely made unnecessary changes.
Carol led the way as the small attack force cautiously maneuvered up the long sandy landing strip. They soon entered a large cave that stretched out beyond their powerful flashlights. It was void of any creatures and clear of any dust. It told Banyon that the control room had protection devices just like the Tayos caves in Ecuador.
The Sumi suddenly pointed and spoke. Gunny Joe translated. “He says the entrance to the control room is about a hundred yards up on the right side.”
“How close do you need to be to the control room?” Banyon asked Carol.
“I believe that the entrance to the tunnel would be close enough,” she responded.
The team hustled up the right side of the cave and eventually found the square smooth walls that indicated the beginning of the tunnel to the control room. Carol immediately dropped to the ground in a crossed-legged position and opened her laptop. Gunny Joe ordered the Sumi to also sit on the ground. Kenny and Previne kept their silenced guns trained on him.
“I just have to find their frequency,” Carol explained. “It should only take a few seconds.”
“Good,” Banyon replied. “The rest of us will head up the tunnel. Let us know when you have jammed their transmitters. Does everyone have their earpieces ready?”
When the other members responded with a yes, Banyon led the way up the tunnel. Kenny and Previne stayed back with Carol to guard the Sumi.
Chapter Four
Meanwhile, inside the control room, the ten foot tall Sumi warrior named Mongo had just pulled out his laser gun and pointed it at the King, Anax Yuk.
“What is the meaning of this,” the King roared.
“I’m here to stop you from canceling the invasion,” Mongo responded in a matter-of-fact tone.
“What? Are you a spy?” the leader stammered.
“I work for Erox,” the Sumi warrior replied smugly. “You will do exactly as I say until the invasion is complete. Erox is in control now.”
The King knew that his people in the huge fleet behind the moon depended on the news from earth to make their decisions. Mongo only wanted the good news of their successes to be passed on. He knew that Erox would use the propaganda to motivate the invasion force.
“Do as I say,” Mongo repeated in a sinister voice. “And send only what I tell you to the starships,” he told the assistant.
“But the earthlings will kill all our men,” the king responded in a hot voice. “I will never let that happen.”
“Then you will be dead soon and Erox will become the Anax.” The warrior responded.
“You leave me no choice,” the King said in resignation. He didn’t want the warrior to kill him. He wanted to stall for time to find a way to stop him.
“Send the files of the damage we are causing in sector two,” the Sumi warrior ordered the assistant.
***
“Sir, something is wrong,” the assistant said after punching a few symbols on the keyboard.
“What do you mean?” Mongo roared.
“Somehow our signals are being jammed. We can’t communicate with the starships,” the assistant cried out in disbelief.
“Fix it,” Mongo ordered as if the assistant could just press a few buttons and make it work.
“Bezo is the only maintenance person that could fix this, and you sent him to guard the cave,” the King said with a shy smile. “You have made a mistake.”
“Well, get him back here,” a frustrated Mongo demanded and waved the laser gun menacingly.
“How?” the King responded and opened his huge arms. “You didn’t even give him a communication device.”
The tall warrior thought for a second. “Then all three of us will go and get him.”
The King was pleased. It would give him some time to come up with a plan to defeat the sinister Mongo. “I will lead the way,” he offered.
“No,” the assistant will go first,” the warrior replied.
They assistant had just reached the doorway when he stopped in his tracks. “Someone is coming down the tunnel. I can see a shadow.”
“Good, that must be Bezo,” Mongo replied confidently.
Chapter Five
The King and the assistant took a step back and separated. Mongo was unsure of where to point his laser gun. He decided to aim it at the doorway. He was completely surprised by the visitor who confidently walked through the doorway. It was another Sumi warrior in full battle dress.
***
As Gunny Joe entered the room, he spoke. “I have come to help.” It was almost all the words he could say in the Sumi language, but the words worked. The King thought he was there to help him defeat the warrior and Mongo thought he was there to assist him. Mongo turned his laser back to the King. It was another fatal mistake.
As Gunny Joe neared Mongo, he kicked out with his leg and hit the warrior right on his wrist. The laser went flying. At the same time, Gunny Joe pressed his earpiece.
“Go,” he uttered.
Within a second Loni charged into the room, Maya was right behind her. The Sumi were so confused that they didn’t react fast enough to the intrusion. Because they were much larger, their reflexes could not match Loni’s speed.
She zipped around the tall Sumi King and headed to the shelf where the transmitters were placed. As she raced down the shelf, she grabbed the crystal memory sticks from each device. It rendered the transmitters useless.
Maya made a beeline for the weapons on the wall in the corner of the room. She pulled down all three and began chanting to turn them off. She quickly disabled the devices and placed them in her now full satchel.
The women were followed by, Jerry Cole, Pramilla, Eric, and Colton Banyon who came rushing into the room with their guns aimed at the heads of the King and his assistant.
Banyon realized the plan was working well, so far. They had captured the King and two assistants
, disabled the transmitters and deactivated the protection devices. Now Maya pulled out the Stop device and aimed it at the massive giant warrior in the middle of the room. If he went for another weapon, she was instructed to use the device to turn it off. The only problem was that the Sumi warrior was a well-trained and a skilled killer. He was far from being subdued.
The two giants, Mongo and Gunny Joe, circled each other looking for an opening. Gunny Joe kicked out with his leg and hit the monster warrior on his kneecap. The martial arts move usually collapsed an opponent’s leg, but Mongo swept aside the blow and brought up his sledgehammer like fists. He was three feet taller than Gunny Joe and had a reach that was over a foot longer. Gunny Joe could not get inside his defenses. He couldn’t shoot him either. The Sumi battle armor would stop any bullet except a headshot or leg shoot. If Gunny Joe missed, the bullets would ricochet all over the rock room and could injure one of the team.
“Uh-oh, I think that I’ll need a little help here,” Gunny Joe yelled. “This guy is out of my league.”
Both Eric and Jerry Cole dropped their guns and went to the rescue.
“Grab his arms,” Gunny Joe yelled out. “We need to get him to the ground so we can hit him somewhere not armored. But be careful, he is very strong.”
Eric leaped up and managed to wrap his arms around the massive left arm of the giant. Jerry did the same with his right arm. Gunny Joe stepped forward to deliver a blow, but Mongo roared and flung Eric away like a toy. He landed in a corner. He then used his left arm to punch Gunny Joe in the chest. The armor protected the gunny from death, but the force was so strong that he flew across the room and smashed into the rock wall. He dropped to the ground momentarily losing consciousness.
The giant now turned his attention to Jerry Cole who hung on desperately to the right arm of the warrior. He was just about to grab Jerry and rip him from his arm when Loni went into action. She was behind the warrior.
