How To Create The Mindset Of A Network Marketing Champion Page 2

I had no idea what to expect, but I entered into that first call with an open mind and a willingness to find answers that could turn my life around.

I found it liberating to close my eyes to the world for ten minutes and completely zone out. That feeling of deep relaxation was always followed by excitement and a slow, growing hope and belief that I could be successful.

I started to see a better future was possible. That I didn’t have to keep stumbling along the unhappy path set out before me.

‘Life is a journey,’ Dave said in one of the sessions. ‘Like all journeys, it needs to start with a destination.’

Did I have a destination? Did I know what I wanted from my journey?

Dave was still talking ‘…what’s your vision?’

I closed my eyes and listened as he led us into deep relaxation.

I let my mind wander into a future of my choosing and in my head I created a vision, which went something like this:

I have just dropped my children at their private school in my 4x4 and been to my personal trainer at the gym. I’m now sat drinking coffee, looking out at the beautiful countryside from my 5-bedroom home, and reflecting on the people I have helped and continue to help. We are taking several holidays this year, so that Will and Rosie can see the world and experience different cultures.

I created this vision at a time when money was really tight. I was unhappy in my personal life. I seemed to be busy with just the struggle of surviving. The idea of relaxing with a coffee in a beautiful garden was something that only happened if I visited my mum. My car was a run-around that didn’t always run! Holidays were an almost impossible luxury and private school was so far out of financial reach it was almost laughable. Oh, and I never went to the gym, no idea where that gem came from! Surely this was just daydreaming?

It seemed so impossible I hardly dared tell Dave, fearing he would laugh out loud at my audacity. But he didn’t laugh. He made it seem possible and my confidence grew.

It wasn’t a wish that with a wave of a wand came true. It was a vision that I created to give my life a destination. Slowly, one by one, each element became reality. Not only do Will and Rosie go to private school, but I also have their fees covered for the whole of their education. This year alone, as a family, we have experienced a safari in South Africa; we’ve swam with dolphins in Singapore and spent a couple of weeks in Cyprus. I have a Porsche 911 along with a shiny new Range Rover and below is a picture of the view from my garden.

A vision isn’t daydreaming or wishful thinking. It is a preview of the future you choose for yourself.

  (Dave)

The power of vision is one of the most important things you will ever learn! It is the fuel that makes your goals and dreams rush toward you. A compelling, long-term vision will be working away constantly in the background, driving and propelling you towards your ultimate destination. The quality of your vision is everything – it is paramount to your success. In this dark period of world economic negativity, more than ever we need to arm ourselves with a crystal clear invincible vision.

King Solomon, believed to be one of the richest men who ever lived, was also in his time regarded as the wisest man in the world. Taken from the Bible, this is what he wrote - FOR LACK OF VISION, THE PEOPLE PERISH.

  (Proverbs 29:18).

The people I have worked with, who have enjoyed the greatest successes, came to me with a goal. Only when we had refined that goal into a crystal clear, invincible vision, did it have the creative power to bring about the success.

It isn’t about setting a goal with an air of hopefulness. You have to identify what you want to happen and believe and expect that it will be so. You need to take charge of your subconscious mind.

How do you create a compelling vision?

  DESIGN YOUR PERFECT DAY

  FIVE YEARS FROM NOW.

Imagine waking up five years from now and you are living your dream life.

These are questions that I had to answer, questions my mentor asked me many years ago.

What’s the lifestyle that you want to live?

What type of home would you like to live in?

What kind of car would you like to be driving?

How much time off would you like every week and every year?

How would you like to contribute to the world?

What difference would you like to make?

How much time would you like to spend travelling around the world?

How much time do you want to spend with your family?

Nobody had ever asked me those questions and I certainly hadn’t asked myself.

WHAT do you really expect to be out there in your future - Physically, Emotionally, Spiritually, and Financially?

  WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING

  FIVE YEARS FROM NOW?

Whether you are aware of it or not you are moving towards a future that you have already created from your past.

However, is it by chance or is it by design? Most people have left it to chance.

Try to remember – what were you doing this time five years ago? What goals did you want to achieve? Did you manage to achieve them or was it hit and miss?

Did you get distracted and lose your sense of purpose and vision? Did you end up just settling for whatever level you did manage to achieve?

Think back to five years ago and reflect on what goals, dreams, hopes and desires you had. Most people feel their lives haven’t turned out the way they thought or had hoped for. They have never understood or used the power of creating a compelling vision.

At the age of ten, Arnold Schwarzenegger had a clear vision of coming to America - he used to give seminars on bodybuilding and about the importance of vision.

‘What I am most happy about is that I can zero in on a vision of where I want to be in the future.

I can see it so clearly in front of me when I daydream that it is almost a reality. Then I get this feeling, and I don’t have to be uptight to get there, because I already feel like I’m there, that it is just a matter of time.

It’s not even a matter of my choosing to make big changes in my life. It’s like I get this vision, without me controlling it, of what I’m supposed to do next, and then that vision consumes me. It becomes me. And from the beginning I absolutely believe I can do it, you know? It’s almost like you have faith you can do this thing and then you can’t wait to get started on what you have to do to get there.’

Winners always know in advance that they’re going to win.

Just like Arnold said, it’s just a matter of time.

Below is my vision. I have been developing and honing it for many years. In fact, I first ‘saw’ myself on stage, speaking and inspiring a large audience when I was a young man, struggling to even make a living. It was a strange vision for me to have back then because I was actually terrified of public speaking. Building my vision into a perfect picture of the future Me took time. But at the end of the chapter are instructions for you to design the future you desire.

I visualised myself as incredibly happy, healthy, vibrant and energetic – living the life of my dreams. I imagined travelling the world, staying in the most exotic locations whilst doing the work I love with a passion – helping people with their mindset. I’m speaking to large audiences everywhere, training them to upgrade their mindset so they can live the ultimate lifestyle. I have attracted the perfect business and personal relationships based on trust.

I hear from hundreds of people every day who tell me how much my products, trainings and seminars are enhancing the quality of their lives. It all feels so fulfilling.

And even though I am financially free, living the ultimate lifestyle, what I’m most proud of is who I have grown into. I refused to compromise and I stayed true to my values.

I feel an immense sense of purpose, joy & right action every day – that I’m doing exactly what I’m destined to do, just as God intended.

That vision is now my life. I live and breathe it every day. It h
as become my reality

Elements to consider when creating your vision Destiny - you must feel that what you’re doing and the success you have is destined.

  ACTION PLAN

  DAY ONE

Close your eyes and fast-forward five years. Imagine a day in your future, what do you do? Where do you live? What car do you drive? Who are you with? How do you feel? Live it in your mind and enjoy it for a few minutes, then write it down. Be very clear about what you want and take the time to create a detailed account.

Congratulations! You have just taken the first step towards the future you desire.

  Chapter Two

  Goal Setting To Goal Getting

  * * *

  (Natalie)

It took me a long time to understand the power and importance of goal setting. Initially I found it particularly hard to set my long-term goals. I struggled to find the belief that anything I envisaged for five years’ time could possibly be achievable. I think this is a problem for a lot of people and a difficult hurdle to overcome.

My younger sister, Sam, finally joined the business eighteen months ago and I sat down to help her decide on her goals. She had the advantage of seeing me accomplish everything I had set out to achieve. But even so she was hesitant.

‘Well, what did you want?’ Sam asked me from across the kitchen table. ‘Other than to take the kids to Disney.’ She smiled, everyone knew the story of how much Will wanted to go to Disneyland and see Buzz Lightyear.

‘That was my first serious goal,’ I said, thinking back to how my son’s desire forced me to up my game. ‘I made the decision and actually booked the holiday before I had the money. Then I worked my socks off to make sure it happened.’

The look on my son’s face when he met his fictional hero is etched into my memory and something I will cherish forever.

‘Achieving that first goal gave me confidence…’ I added.

Sam stood up and put the kettle on. ‘So what came next?’ she asked. ‘Was it private school?’

I thought for a moment. ‘Yes and no. That was always in my mind, but back then it seemed way too big and out of reach.’

It was true at that stage I hadn’t learnt to trust that goals were achievable, at least not the big ones.

‘I concentrated on the smaller goals,’ I said, ‘like holidays.

Seeing Will and Rosie come down a ski slope for the first time was a massive thrill for me. And I suppose hiring a cleaner was really important to me…’

‘Yep, and a big relief to the rest of the family,’ she laughed.

I smiled in agreement. ‘I do hate cleaning.’

‘Well, I’m going big from the beginning,’ Sam said, adopting her determined expression. ‘I want to start Harry at private school when he is seven. That gives me almost five years to achieve it.’

‘You’ll do it easily,’ I replied, knowing it was true.

  ‘You think?’

‘Definitely. You know what Dave says – create a vision and know that it is your future.’

She looked excited. ‘Right, I’m going to start looking for the right school now so that I can see it all more clearly.’

‘I did the same thing. It helps to make the vision real.’

I knew she would achieve her goal. She was going to build a spectacular business and Harry would be off to private school in no time.

As it turned out, the ‘no time’ was spot on. In just eighteen months she was easily making enough money to cover school fees and my nephew was going to begin his school life in the private sector.

Sam has had to rework her goals and make them bigger, just as I had to. You always have to be prepared to adjust – I thought I would achieve a new car, I saw myself in a 4x4, dropping the kids off at school. Instead, the new term started with us all in a brand new, shiny, Porsche 911. Unfortunately the boot simply wasn’t big enough for the kids’ sports gear, so in the same month I had to also buy a Range Rover to cope with the school run - now that’s an adjustment I can live with!

  (Dave)

Making the decision to set goals is the easy part; actually achieving them is a little bit harder.

  Achieving goals requires:

  Vision

  Belief

  Persistence

  Motivation

  Action

  Commitment

  Focus

  Discipline

  Visualization

  Consistency

  Boldness

  Time management

  Personal integrity

  Follow-through

  Optimistic attitude

  Passion

  Enthusiasm

Clearly, the biggest challenge is in achieving the goals and not in setting them. If you want to be successful and have the future you desire and deserve then make the commitment right now and get started.

  MOST PEOPLE FOCUS ON

  WHAT THEY DON’T WANT

I used to live my life in survival mode. I never had an abundance of anything. I know what it is to put your card into the ATM with your fingers crossed, and ask for money with more hope than expectation. So many people live lives of daily disappointment, they cover up a deep feeling of despair by being busy. I’ve been there myself, stuck on the wheel of life, going round and round, knowing it was getting me nowhere, but afraid to jump off and find a different path.

Change can be scary, but you need to be honest with yourself.

Are you currently living the lifestyle of your dreams?

Years ago if I had been asked that question my answer would have been a very emphatic NO!

I suspect that for most of you reading this book your answer will also be NO.

So the next logical question is why not?

The answer is because we allow our circumstances to control our thinking and our lifestyle. We look around and accept that this is our life, and our aspirations are limited to fit within the lifestyle we now have. We settle in the comfort zone instead of raising our expectations and striving for more.

The truth, which takes most people (including me), a long time to grasp and believe is that if we want to change our lifestyle then it all begins with our mind.

You are what you think you are

That is a bold statement, but if you can truly grasp its meaning it will change how you view yourself and your life. In my experience few people know what they really want, and even if they do it tends to be what they dream about rather than what they believe and plan for.

Sadly though, I find that more people know what they don’t want. They allow their minds to dwell on negatives and as a result their lives are dominated by fear and doubt and failure. By allowing mind space for what they
don’t want they are actually drawing it into their lives.

If you think you will fail then you almost certainly will do so. I’ll say this again, because it is so important – You are what you think you are!

By taking control of your mindset, creating a vision for where you want to be in five years’ time and then setting out a clear plan with markers along the way, you can achieve the future you want rather than the future you fear.

Most people also spend more time planning a holiday than they do planning their life goals, be they business or personal ones. If you are one of those people, now is the time to change.

A GOAL WITHOUT A DATE IS JUST A DREAM.

Something amazing happens when you have a timeline of events that need to take place in a specific order and sequence to lead to your vision – you know beyond any shadow of doubt when you are on track.

Once you are completely clear about your End Outcome you need to work backwards from that point to the present.

This process works for both a short-term goal and a longer-term goal or vision.

I should make clear the distinction between a goal and a vision.

A goal is an essential part of life, but it is one target, one part of the journey you are on and necessary to move you forward.

A vision is not a goal. It is much broader and more compelling than a goal. It is a complete, overall picture of your life that includes both personal and professional endeavours.

So – goals are part of your vision and form the stepping stones that enable you to reach your chosen life destination.

You start with your dream vision and then, working backwards, you fill in the goals that will lead you to the attainment of the vision.

You can chart your progress through the goals. As each one achieved takes you a step closer to your vision, and the vision will keep you focused and on track long after each individual stepping stone goal is achieved. This is why it is so important that you do both. You need a compelling vision and a series of goals.

  Example - take Natalie’s initial five-year vision:
