At this Point! The mummy rejoice hopping and dance around with a simple Chat!
Future! Future! Future!!!
While mummy was dancing around, Kuka came out from a room and litter the surrounding with dirt and went back inside the room.
JANI: Mummy you see how Kuka litter the whole surrounding with dirt and he had never sweep this compound.
MUMMY: Tradition has reserved them.
JANI: Reserved??? You mean all those men sweeping our school and cleaning our principal office are women? Mummy you see it's only when we are healthy that we can productive. Do you remember the heavy floods we had last time is as a results of not thinking ahead and malaria fever and cholera outbreak we had last in this community is as a result of poor garbage disposal and stagnant water that serves as a reservoirs and attract more vector- borne around us.
MUMMY: Do you mean what you are saying?
JANI: Yes Mummy!
Mummy :( shouted) kuka! Kuka! Kuka!
KUKA: Yes; mummy.
MUMMY: Did you heard what Jani just said?
KUKA: what about?
MUMMY: She said, last time we had malaria and cholera outbreak in this community is as a result of our poor garbage's disposal and stagnant water that cause us ill.
KUKA: 'Hmmm' how does disposal of waste and stagnant water causes us illness?
MUMMY: She said when the environment is polluted with dirty, it will serves as a breeding place for vector borne.
KUKA: Victor born, how come victor born?
MUMMY: I Mean vector borne, any insect that carry organisms on their surface or ingest it are vector borne.
KUKA: 'Hm' (surprise)
MUMMY: You can see how the environment can affect any link in the chain of infection.
KUKA: Chain of infection???
MUMMY: Yes! You know we have three major links in disease occurrence, the etiological agent, the method of transmission (by contact, by a common vehicle, or via air or a vector) and the host.
KUKA: Mummy, I could see monkey in the diagram, does that also cause infection?
MUMMY: Yes! People living near the forest area may have indirect or low-level exposure infected monkey, possibly leading to (asymptomatic to systematic) infection.
KUKA: Mummy, the great man say “if you want to hide anything from most people, put it in a book”, but to be sincere, how can you justify or pivot out the diagram you just illustrate as a disease cause scientifically?
MUMMY: As described above, the traditional epidemiology triad model hold that infectious disease result from the interaction of agent, host and the environment. More specifically, transmission occurs when the agent leaves its reservoir or host through a portal of exist, is conveyed by some mode of transmission, and enters through an appropriate portal of entry to infect a susceptible host. This sequence is sometime called the chain of infection.
KUKA: 'Chai' mummy how do you know all these? Does that means our behaviors might influence the development of disease?
MUMMY: Yes, our behavior might influence disease occurrence which is why my daughter Jani the good girl had been passing the information around for preventing measures.
KUKA: Mummy that means is only Jani that is good, no problem, I'm also going to enrolled in school so that I will know better than she do.
MUMMY: I didn't called you a bad boy' and you know I can push you up the ladder unless you are willing to climb.
KUKA: I know I'm the only person on earth who can use my ability, any time I can take action.
MUMMY: You can have the keys to self-mastery but without the ability to take action, you won't see your desired outcome.
KUKA: That means action speaks louder than words.
MUMMY: Aright! Bring those tools so that we can tidy up our surrounding since you can take action any time;
KUKA: Broom, cutlasses, rake, packer, is today June 5th I mean world environment day or have they disburse the Ecological fund to you?
MUMMY: Ecological fund- Jani what did you he mean by that?
JANI: Is a fund given for each state to meet the objectives of international environmental conventions and agreement.
MUMMY: You mean is a financial assistant?
JANI: Yes Mummy!
MUMMY: Is there any plans to track and report the progress of all restoration projects and provide documentation to support their effectiveness?
JANI: I think the Modality might had put in place for Monitoring and Evaluation before any Projects implementations, so as to ensure transparency and accountability of this fund and those who misappropriate are also been jailed.
At this point Jani took action by bringing out brooms, cutlasses, hands glove to tidy up the surrounding. Kuka, mummy follow suit.
MUMMY: Really.
JANI: Yes!
After tidy up the surrounding, they dug a pit behind their house to throw away their degradable rubbish and cover with a big nylon bag so that the flies do not get at it and the non-degrade able recycling. The only trouble, however was that they could not get rid of flies, which kept swarming in their kitchen every time they cooked and served their food. This was due to the fact their neighbor's still threw their garbage onto uncovered heaps just outside their houses.
This attracted a lot of flies to the whole neighborhoods. Jani found it difficult to keep away the flies despite their own attempts to keep the place healthy.
They decide that it was time for them to do something about the problem. However, Jani wanted to confront their neighbors' about the issue, but discover that they are too troublesome Jani summon courage to consult the village king and talk to him about the issue and other related problems befalling them so as to use his position of moral strength to find an acceptable solution .
JANI: Good day! Your highness, I'm here to see you. My name is Jani, I'm from majigi village, and I had some issues bothering me in respect to our environment. Your highness Sir, as you know we are all custodian to our environment and the greatest direct threats to our natural and physical environment.
KING: My daughter I heard you w
hat are those direct threats you witness in this community?
JANI: Your highness Sir, the major environmental challenge in this community include: loss of wildlife, erosion, poor garbage disposal, careless felling of trees, industrial pollution and chemical waste dump.
But the major concern bothering me now is poor garbage disposal, I had been making attempt to keep my surrounding clean but my neighbors are on the other side that is way I'm here to inform you whether you can assist in talking to them.
KING: Talking! Talk is the food of a chief's. As a leader of this Community I go ahead the food- bearers will support behind to assist you in your good idea.
JANI: You mean assist me mine is not for myself, but for the community and many generation that fellow us. And you know no matter how beautiful an idea appears it can only have a good assessment when we put it to action.
KING: My daughter you have said it all, the ideas that outlive men can never be destroyed. I'm going to check to see what I can do. I appreciate your coming, I believe if we can see two, three people in this community like you our community would have been in good shape.
JANI: Thank you your highness for your support. But sir cutting down trees and indiscriminate waste dump is it a crime or deviance behavior. And what are the difference between deviance and crime?
KING: Technically, the two term are used interchangeably depending the way society view them. And you know that crime is any specific act prohibited by law for which society have provided a formal sanction punishment, this include failure of a person to perform an acts specifically require by law, example of crime is felonies generally include: violent crime, sex offence, many type of illegal drugs and property violation. And cutting down trees unnecessary without replanting them is a property violation can also be an environmental offence. While deviance is an action or behaviors that violate social norms including formally enacted rules that affirms cultural values- for example deviance define moral boundaries, that is people learn right from wrong by defining people as deviant, that is deviance is not quality of the act person commits, but rather a consequence of the application by others rules and sanctions to an “offender” from here we say the deviant is one to whom the label has successfully been applied.
JANI: Thank you your highness.
KING: You are welcome. But it sound as if you work at the village level initiative, is that the basic of your participation on sustainable development and environment issues?
JANI: Not at all your royal highness, I'm a student of African Thinkers Innovative College (ATIC).
KING: Aright, what gives you the ideas for participation to share on community development?
JANI: I derived the ideas from my passionate teacher Mr. Ahmed and I feel to create something of values as a tools for other that will enable them to do something positive for greater accomplishments in this community as well.
KING: It seems you are very passionate with this campaign, how can you justify the assertion that feed on itself by media portrayal of young people as egoistic, irresponsible, and apathetic individuals? And most of them are too young to run in decision- making and environmental issues.
JANI: I had been hearing that from different views labeling young people as deviant, but sir you will agree with me that when the support system is been put in place a lot of youth can used their potential to do a great wonderful work in their field of endeavor. It is also one of the reasons I'm working hard to get a replica of myself in this community and also build a compendium that will be test of time for generation yet unborn and for community that lack content.
And you know youth comprise nearly 60 percent of the world's population. Their involvement in peace building and environmental development and its implementation of programed is critical to the long-term success of chapter 25 of Agenda 21.
KING: Agenda 21- What do you mean by that?
JANI: A 300- page document that outlines global strategies for cleaning up the environmentally sound development.
KING: You mean is a blueprint on how to make development socially, economically, and environmentally sustainable?
JANI: Yeah! Your highness sir! It also contains strategies for preventing environmental degradation and for establishment a basis for sustainable way of life on planet into the twenty- first century. And young people are also identify in the implementation.
KING: You mean young people! Young people's altruism runs counter to what participation of policy reshaping is about to what you are explaining?
JANI: The Royal Highness Sir. We can see one common image of youth view them as metaphor of hope, change and regeneration, another contradicting image is a problem and instability. But, by virtue of focus leadership, history shall not forget itself. This face of young people came into focus in Nigeria during the 2017, and was most marked during the “Not Too young Run movement” protest on 25th July 2017 to National assembly against the dominance of the older generation, by judicious concession, by granting access and participation or, as a last resort, by repression. Thus the state not only constitutes the age order by seeing that age gives way to youth, but also ensures, in the meantime, the youths know their place. We can observe how the state has lowered the age qualification of the electoral process, established place for young people on advisory boards. We can also see how the young people are collaborating, networking, advocating, sensitizing and giving out voices to more awareness for more young people to come on board for policy reshaping and implementation.
KING: Are you sure the bill has been passed into law?
JANI: Yes, on 31st May, 2018. The president has signed asserted bill into constitutional act.
KING: Aright! How can young people give weight and effectiveness to community commitments while as a lot of them swept up grapple sit in conferences and conventions rather then what they do in their community?
JANI: I believe for now else young people will express determination to renew and enhance the value and importance of the grassroots as a first point of contact which can and should strengthen and enrich the lives of their peoples in wider community, rather than just bringing funny mediocre people elsewhere in suits to be at the round tables representing them as youth developmental.
KING: That's usually very nice; because I believe these are all tools we need to build a society that is founded on justice and peace.
JANI: Your highness sir, I could see in line two of your comment you make mention of illegal drugs and we can also witness part of the media jump on the bandwagon and forces of law and other devote more time and energy to finding these so called 'enemies of decent society'
KING: Is a right move in a good direction to stop does who live in the life of debauchery.
JANI: But, the rogo community are rebel vigorously against the development and nagging in such a way that the nous is part 'moral panic'.
KING: In the nutshell, what exactly do their mean by that?
JANI: Their all point to a number of authors (Cohen, 1980 Pearson, 1983, Hall et al, 1978) argue that when a society faces deep structural problems, which usually entail fundamental changes in the economic system, there is a tendency for that society to find ways of not dealing directly with the problem.
KING: You mean the problem is displaced from the economic sphere to the cultural sphere.
JANI: (Smile) I don't know may be their answer would be next time,
KING: Intellectually, I don't think is a short shot of 'finding a scapegoat' or securing hegemony. Moreover, you bear me witness that this drug and substance abuse are major cause of health related issues in our community and society at large such as:
Premature death
Reckless behavior
Exploitation by others
Social displacement or disruption
A temporary state of identity confusion
Poor health, such as brain damage
Increase crime and violence among youth
Rejection by family and society at large
However, I am
giving this list not as a cranky king or punch words around your mind, but rather as a list of dangerous behavior that must be avoided at all cost.
JANI: Thank you sir!
KING: Aright! Moreover, you can see how the safety-verve had been unfreeze and release to the community to avoid emotional outburst in terms of economic means.
JANI: Really!
KING: Err!
JANI: What?
KING: In progress!
JANI: Thank your highness! But, you know drugs abuse is a serious problem in this community, but as an upcoming leader, what will be my role in the prevention of any psychoactive substance in this community?
KING:
To do this you have to look beyond the surface systems and establish the underlying patterns of cause and effects.
Get the title of the subject matter.
Try to develop a poster with a catch phrase slogan to get your target audience.
Mobilize the community groups and sensitized them.
Guide the participants to explain their view on drug and psychoactive substance, thereafter provide them insight.
Let the participant identify the substances in their areas and provide their local names and the method of taking them.
Get to know their reasons of taking such substance.
Let the participants understand what abuses of those substances are.
Let them know the consequence of problem associated for persons who use them.
Psychological support to those dependent on drugsand recognizing those who have not stated using any psychoactive substance.
JANI: Your highness sir, is there any limitation for criminalization of these substances.
KING: 'Yes, The control might lead to the establishment of black market.
It will increase the work load of criminal justice system.
It will encourage more criminal tendency and more law enforcement officer.
