Every muscle in her body tensed, almost painfully, in those few seconds before she was swept away again.

She came back to the sight of him in the dim light of the cab, ripping his clothes from his body and exposing the hard, tight muscles that dominated his torso. Her sex clenched at the sight of him.

His hard, thick cock stood proud against the flatness of his stomach, and demanded her attention. She forced her body to move, turned onto her knees, and took him down into her mouth before he knew what had hit him…

Shane’s first reaction was to yank his cock free… that lasted all of a few seconds before he tipped his head back on his neck and savoured the feel of her lips clamping down around his cock as she sucked and pushed as much of his girth into her mouth as she could get. He felt the hard clench of the muscles in her throat as he nudged downwards and she swallowed hard.

“Fuck…” Shane pulled his hips back and grabbed her under the arms, bringing her body up with the sound of a tempting pop as his cock was released from her mouth. “That’s not where I wanna be, honey…” he growled out, turning her body away from him and fisting his cock in one large hand.

She moaned as he rubbed the tip against her folds. The moment that he thrust in deep, she bit down on a hearty curse of pleasure. He nudged her knees forward with his own until he had her breasts pressed against the back plate of his cab. Her hands palmed the coldness in front of her as Shane’s hands gripped her hips and he went to work on thrusting into her like there was no tomorrow, like this was everything and they had to savour this union between them.

His bear wanted one thing and that was to claim her as theirs, put his mark in her skin so that she was protected. As he lost himself in her body, so his bear pushed forward, and his fangs elongated.

He wouldn’t bite. He couldn’t. She hadn’t agreed to be his mate, to force the change inside of her into a shifter, and it was a life he would never force on another.

That didn’t mean that he wouldn’t claim her.

  CHAPTER SIX

Shane was too far gone to stay in control of his beast. He reached out and fisted her hair, pulling her head to one side so that he could run his tongue over the curve of her neck, down her shoulder… he couldn’t really taste her, but he could still dream.

She was close to another release. Her inner muscles were clamping around his cock, tightening so that he had to thrust harder. He grunted and growled with each thrust. Fuck, she felt like heaven and he couldn’t get enough. Couldn’t get close enough…

His razor sharp fangs scratched against the tender skin of her shoulder, opening up the flesh and leaving dotted lines of blood in their wake. The scent of her blood called to him, bayed him on, and when he got the first taste of her blood on his tongue- his beast went wild for her.

Lucy cried out as the orgasm slammed into her like a brick wall. Her body convulsed with the hard clenching intensity of the orgasm that took her away. She felt the pain hit her shoulder and it screamed through her body as it protested, and yet his cock was still thrusting inside of her, making her orgasm, over and over until she thought she would lose her mind.

The roar that left Shane’s throat could never have been contained within him. It burst to life at the same instant that his seed exploded into her womb. He’d never come with so much force before, as if her body was suckling the seed from deep within him, over and over, wave after wave, until he collapse in over her limp body, panting like his bear had run for its life.

Lucy slept and woke within his strong arms. The wind blew outside and she heard every whispered word on those gusts as the snow continued to fall. His heartbeat sounded like a loud drum. His breathing was hot and clammy against her neck as he nuzzled into her.

She felt hot then cold. Agitated then calm. Her dreams were of bears and the freedom of the woods, but she couldn’t understand them, couldn’t understand her place in those dreams.

Everything felt so different and yet so much the same.

Time ticked by as she woke in the half light and stared at the yellow-white bulb casing in the front of the truck. It seemed to buzz with the electrical charge that ran through it. She felt fevered, and it clawed within her… something different, something- strange.

Shane stirred beside her. She felt his hard cock nudge against her backside and squirmed to take him inside of her. There was an itch that needed scratching, but he was still too asleep to take the damn hint.

She broke the hold that he had around her body and rolled with him until he was on his back and she was above him. She palmed his chest and closed her eyes to the feeling of his satin cock sliding back and forth against her folds as she moved her hips… Still not close enough…

She reached down and fisted his cock, running it back along her folds and into her channel, and when she felt the hard pressure of his girth starting to stretch her wide, she pushed down…

There was a rumble of pleasure within her chest as she took him inside of her. Deep, deeper, until she had him to the hilt and rolled her hips. Her hair fell down her back and felt like silk against her naked skin as her head tipped back and she started to ride him.

He woke to that. His large hands clamped on her hips and he thrust his hips upwards, taking her deep, deeper, until another rumble rattled through her.

Her hands curled against the hard muscles of his chest. Her fingernails dug deeply into the skin and he growled at the pain of it. His hips moved faster and she kept pace with him, slamming down to take him as deeply within her as she could get him…

There was pain in her jaw as she clamped down on the jagged moans that left her lips… Her fingertips hurt, ached, as she dug her nails deeper into his flesh… Then all hell broke loose within the small confines of the cab…

“Your scent is different…” Shane growled. He tried to sit up, but she pushed against his chest holding him in place… She was close to another orgasm and she needed it… needed more… she needed to bite…

The hearty growl that escaped her lips shocked the hell out of him. She was stronger- maybe as strong as he was, and she scented like bear…

At first he’d thought that it was her scent mixed with his, but now he knew better. His beast roared within him with so much pride that his heart hammered against his ribs. Knowing what he’d done was almost as shameful as the pride and the passion that swept through him…

  Fuck, but he wanted her…

Lucy sat astride him taking what she needed from his cock. There was a fever within her that couldn’t be denied, and it was clawing inside of her to mate him, to fuck his brains out, to take everything and more from his hard body, and she did…

The claws that had pushed down from her fingertips scored his chest as she rode him like a wild thing. Her fangs had pushed down and she needed to bite, to claim him as hers… Every inch of her body was primed with awareness of him, just him, him and sex, and she wanted his seed deep within her…

“Lucy… fuck…” Shane saw her fangs, but he already knew the truth of it. He’d bitten her, turned her, and this was her first need, to mate with him, to take his seed…

“Harder, fuck me harder…” She growled out as she pounded down his cock. She felt the hard clasp of his hands on her hips and he drilled into her with a purpose. He couldn’t deny her…

She leaned in over him, spreading her legs wider, taking him deeper until he felt as if he was inside of her womb. Pleasure and pain mingled and she was lost. She could scent him, scent the bear within him, and it called to something within her- she bit down hard against his shoulder and tasted his blood on her tongue…

The world spun around her. The fever took her harder, faster, and the moment that she released her fangs from his flesh, she tossed her head back on her neck and roared with the intensity of the orgasm that ripped her apart…

Shane’s seed filled her. Over and over, until he had nothing left to give. Her body collapsed down over him and he wrapped his arms around her protectively, but
his mind was still churning, still denying, still accepting what he’d done to her…

“Lucy…” He reached down and cupped her face, bringing her head up and finding her eyes closed to the world. When she opened them- those bright blue eyes burned with the bear inside of her. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean for…”

“What did you do to me…?” Lucy knew. She knew something had been wrong and now she knew what it was.

The pain she’d felt before. The way her shoulder ached- He’d bitten her. Changed her. Made her one of them.

A single tear ran its course down her cheek. She thought she’d been in trouble with Diego, but this, this was way more than she could ever have imagined possible.

“You’re my mate…” Shane started to explain, but she pulled away from him and felt the fire of anger within her. She wrenched her body back from his as she slapped his hands away.

“How could you?” She screamed out into the confined space of the cab and the pain struck her ears. She thrust her naked body back against the seats and covered her breasts with her arms. Tears fell freely now.

Shane pushed up and reached for her, but she slapped his hands away. His heart ached. His guilt soared. And his shame was overwhelming.

“I never meant to bite you…”

“You bastard.” Her words were so quiet, so damning that they felt like a knife inside of him.

“Yes.” He nodded. “I’ve wronged you…”

“You’ve made me a monster.” Lucy’s face twisted with disdain.

“Not a monster…” He started but she attacked fast. Her arms swung at him. Her claws cut into his flesh, and she roared at the need within her to kill him.

Shane didn’t try to defend himself. He left her wrath unchecked. He deserved it. Deserved her hate, her anger, her venom.

The wounds cut deeply into his flesh but he never made a sound. The next moment she was kicking open the door to the cab and as the frosty winds came rushing in. She was gone.

Shane cursed out as he rushed to follow her. She would shift soon. She couldn’t be allowed to shift alone...

  CHAPTER SEVEN

Lucy put one foot in front of the other and ran. Her mind was spinning. Her body was fevered, and she felt the icy cold chill across her body and embraced it.

She gave no thought to the fact that she was naked. Nor to the snow coming down around her. She just needed to get somewhere- only she didn’t know where.

It called to her like a fire in her blood. A strange scent in the air that felt like an itch clawing beneath her skin. Wherever it was that she was going- she just needed to get there and fast.

Her ears heard him calling through the howling wind. A part of her wanted to go to him, and yet there was something within her, anger, fear, a sense of disdain that kept her from turning back.

The snow came down sideways across the land in waves and blinded her to her surroundings. Still she ran. It felt as if her very life depended on it.

Fire and ice mixed in the heart of her. Desperation called to her and kept her going. One foot in front of the other and she would reach her goal.

The scent grew stronger. The winds grew louder. Her heart hammered its own beat.

  A sound. A rumble. Thunder.

It was a shadow set against the snow. Larger than life. It filled her with loathing, fear, and yet need.

Faster now. As fast as her newfound strength could carry her. Another rumble, a warning growl, and she slowed- stopped as her eyes tried to see what her heart knew she would find.

It moved slowly forward as if testing the space between them. As if stalking her. Closer until her heart threatened to burst from her chest.

  “No!” Shane was close.

The shadow reared up. Taller than any man. Fear struck inside of her and she wanted to turn and run, but it was too late.

It dropped down, coming towards her fast. Another rumble. Another warning growl and it was there, visible through the veil of white.

  Bear.

Shane’s hands locked around her upper arms and he tossed her around behind his back. She could hear his heart hammering. She could hear the thunder of his growl and it wrapped around her body and told her that she was safe, for now, from everything, and yet there was fear from her mate too- she could scent it.

  “Shane…?”

The bear roared. Shane answered. Instinctively she knew that he was going to fight for her, but why? She’d been running towards that bear, she knew it deep down…

“Jackson… she’s mine!” Shane growled. His voice sounded urgent. Pained.

Jackson shifted into his human form and stalked towards Shane and the female. He scented the air as he went, but he already knew what he’d find. A newly bitten female.

“What did you do?” Jackson’s voice was deep and held his beast within it. His eyes were on fire with the rage that tore through him. He didn’t wait for an answer- he reached out and backhanded Shane across the face, knocking him sideways and exposing the female that stood behind him.

Lucy stared at the alpha. Her eyes met jet black ones. Her soul begged for mercy and yet she held her ground.

“Did you ask for this?” Jackson demanded. “Did you ask to be turned?”

Lucy shook her head. A part of her wanted to lie, wanted to defend her mate, and yet the anger inside of her kept her silent.

“You’ll die for this, Shane.” Jackson growled long and hard as his eyes flicked downwards to his kin. “You know our laws.”

“I know our laws. It- just happened. I have no excuse. I was weak.” Shane bit down on his fear. It wasn’t fear for himself, but for his mate. “Help her, Jackson.”

“You know the way of it, Shane. If she can’t accept her bear. If she can’t control the shift…” The anger raged within him. He never thought a member of his clan could be so reckless, so stupid. Now they would all have to live with the consequences of his actions.

“Help her.” Shane heard the roar of rage from within the alpha.

“I should kill you right here and now.” Jackson took a step towards him and Shane dragged himself to his feet.

“Yes.” He bowed his head and twisted it, opening his throat up to his alpha’s will.

“No!” Lucy found her voice and her courage as she stepped forward. When Jackson’s eyes snapped towards her she stilled, clenched every muscle within her body, and her hands fisted at her sides.

“He broke the law. He turned a human without thought or consequence. Without asking for permission from me or you.” Jackson took a step towards her but she didn’t back away. “You could die. He will.” Jackson informed her with a cold blooded tone that made her quiver inside.

“No.” Her voice was smaller but it held no less conviction. She didn’t want Shane to die. Her heart felt as if it was bleeding within her. As if she could actually feel it broken and crying blooded tears for her mate…

“It’s our way.” Jackson wasn’t going to sugar coat it. “You have your own choices to make if you want to stay alive.”

“I…” Lucy dragged her eyes away from the cold glare of the alpha and towards her mate. He didn’t look at her, couldn’t look at her. In his madness he may have just sentenced her to death.

Marcus heard the news and he wasn’t happy. His first thought was rage. His second anger. His third was pity, for his brother and the human mate.

He paced back and forth inside of his cabin. His thoughts were jumbled. His mind spun, tossing and turning everything back and forth to try to find an answer.

He didn’t understand how his clan brother could have been so stupid. So careless- But then who was he to judge? He had never met his mate.

The front door opened and Chance appeared. Filling the doorway and growling like a wild thing. His fiery glare landed on Marcus.

“Don’t stand on ceremony and knock.” Marcus growled out. His big fists were already bunched at his sides.

“We have to plead Shane’s case.” Chance stalked i
nside and tossed the door closed behind him.

“No, really, come on in.” Marcus growled out. He didn’t want anyone around while he was still trying to sort through his own damn anger at what Shane had done.

“Marcus, this is urgent.” Chance growled. “I know you damned well like to mull things over for a week or two, but this can’t wait.”

“You think I don’t know that, asshole?” Marcus growled back.

  “I think you’re you.”

“What the hell does that mean?”

“You’ll huff and growl and hum about shit, but by then it could be too late.”

“Fuck you and your bear. Get the hell out of my cabin before I toss you through the damn wall and have to spend the next week fixing the damage.” Marcus tossed up a dismissive hand. He wasn’t up for this shit now.

“Shane broke the law, turned the human, but if she argues his case. Pleads for his life…”

“You’re assuming that she’ll be alive long enough to do that.” Marcus growled over his shoulder as he stalked towards the open bottle of Scotch on the table and fisted its neck. He wasted no time in tossing the fiery liquid down the back of his throat.

  “That’s where Jackson comes in…”

“Man, your stupid. Jackson is the one who is gonna kill her. Kill Shane.” Marcus growled. He knew Chance was slow on the uptake sometimes, but this wasn’t the time for him to have to explain the workings of a clan to him.

“Jackson can help her shift, we can help her control the bear…”

“You can’t even help you control your bear, what the hell makes you think you can help a human female?”

“Fuck you, man. You’re just gonna walk around in here until it’s done, until they’re dead? Fine, screw you.” Chance yanked open the front door and the hinges protested. Marcus growled.

“Wait!” Marcus tossed down another quarter of the bottle. “I’ll talk to Jackson.”
